Salam,
A change of tires was due for my Honda Civic Exi 2004 as I had clocked nearly 65000 kms on my Dunlop Sp Sport LM703 size 195/65/R15. The thing about 195s is that they are a bit bigger and add a little bit to the ride height of the car and that just takes away some of the ride characteristics of a 7th gen civic. The 7th gen sits low and you get a lot of confidence while cornering since the center of gravity is low and you can feel the grip. But that is when you are using factory recommendations. The tire profile recommended for 7th gen Exi is 185/65/R14 while for the Vti I think it is 185/65/R15. You can look them up at the door sills.
So I was looking for new tires and had set aside a budget of around 25k. For some reason did not feel like going for smuggled tire so my options seemed very limited. But then a friend suggested I buy Warrior Tires (model R29). He had put these on three of his cars; prius, city and alto and highly recommended them. I was a bit skeptical since this brand is from China but then I decided to give them a go and got the tires on 10 days ago from Super Fazal Traders, Orient Hotel near Lakshami Chowk, who also happen to be one of only two distributors of Warrior tires in Pakistan. First impression ... the steering became very light but that probably was due to me opting to go for 185/65/R15 profile. The tires are ery silent and the grip is amazing. The drive on these tires is fantastic and my average has improved to 12+ in city from 10. The tread design incorporates four longitudinal grooves and the grip in cornering is ample. The throttle response has improved drastically and I can literally feel a lot of traction when I come off the line.
I got 4 tires for around 21000 Rs which is highly reasonable. I looked up these tires online and was pleasantly surprised to see that these tires are actually a joint venture of Michelin and a Chinese brand. The technology behind these tires is from Michelin and hence I highly recommend anyone who is going for a change of tires to buy these.
