I found this at a paint shop.. Its for 1200.. Anyone used this product? Please share experience of using 3M products and their availability..

havent used this purticular product by 3M
but have used their rubbing compound over the years, and it removes scratches quiet flawlessly.
as for the availabilty is concerned, dedicated wax and polish shops may have their products, havent seen any in super stores or shopping malls here, got mine from england

yes this is the carnauba wax by mothers

im not sure about the market rate at the moment, but it would be somewhere from 1200-1700 rupees, worth every penny though!

if you have any contacts abroad, try to import Meguiar's Gold Class or NXt Generation..i am using it currently, and trust me, it works wonders..especially on black coloured cars!

yes definitely you should ask her to bring meguiar's..just make sure you ask her to bring the paste form, not the liquid form..essential imports well umm chocolates i must say =p

nops, no machines, i do it with my hands, dont trust anyone or anything with my car lol.
i havent used any swirl removers or clay bars..but have used polishing compounds and waxes to get rid of swirls..they work well.
chocolates are all good.(H)

Sir, you are from Karachi.. Please suggest me some mid range products available here.. Not as expensive as P21S and Wolfgang and more importantly where can I shop for these. Have you happened to use Turtle's ICE Wax? I've heard its very good.

Also, tell me about a product to remove swirls.. Appreciate the help.

Sir there is a distributor of Turtle and F1 products at plaza, near the PSO petrol pump, the harder the wax, the better.

Both Turtle and F1 are good and best value for money as long as they are applied and removed nicely (just do not make a too rich or lean coat and apply in circular motion).

You can get the Chinese made P21S for 1,500 Rs, still good for money spent, will last for 4-6 months usually.

Also prepare the car for waxing where there is minimum dust.

Word of advise, you can use the RoyalShield, it will remain good for 3 years easily even if you park your car at a place with direct exposure to sunlight, rain or dust.

There is no way wax would last 1 month let alone 6 months. I use Mothers Carnauba wax and Synthetic wax along with Reflections top coat and it hardly stays on for 10 days. A single coat of either wax stays on for max 3-4 days. Btw heres my car if anyone is doubting I am using fake wax or not applying correctly.

@959: Thanks for the information Sir.. Royal Shield is not for me, I don't like the idea at all.. I am one of those people who wants to spend time waxing my car myself every month..
@mani1: Relax brother nobody is doubting your products/application skills.. Good job done on the car.. I guess its relative when you say wax doesn't last more than 3-4 days.. the shine probably gets hidden due to our dusty environment and the dirty cloth that our chaukidars use to clean the cars.. but the protection quote i believe stays for a few days..

I am relaxed. ACtually I have spent way too much time on forums to know that when ever something does not conforms to ones expectations he/she tries to find flaws in it, and the most favourite phrase of Pakistanis (on internet and in real life too) is that XYZ must be fake you must have done something wrong.

Also my driver does is not allowed to use normal cloths on my cars. We have microfibre cloths for the purpose

The protective ability of wax may last more than a week but then there is no way to be sure of it. My motto is better safe than sorry. Therefore I get my car waxed each week

I have used Sonax waxes and polishes but IMO they are not as good as Mothers. However I regularly use other Sonax products like Microfibre cloths and wax applicators

Hahahaha I can understand what you mean brother.. But specifically regarding wax and car shine, it is a fact we do live in a VERY dusty country.. check out the amount of dust that comes off just your body surface when you take it for a service.. Environment contributes the most to paint surfaces.. I have found that many other countries are not nearly as dusty... Results vary a great deal because of that..

Anyhow.. Who are you ordering Meguiar's from in Karachi? Is it the Optimum guy?

You are quote right about the dust part and owning a black car in this country is a nightmare. However dust can cause swirl marks but it does not do that much damage to the clear coat. What the real killer here is sunlight. I take special care never to park my car in direct sunlight.

Even a damp cloth of water can give that shine on a 3-4 years old car.

This car is 14 years old and stand parked in direct sunlight and heavy dust for 5-7 hours daily.

That is P21S, applied 3 months and 5 days ago, so only comment after using a product.
