I read all the discussion, actually I also have Toyota 2.0D, I use mobile Delvac MX-15W40 as suggested by one knowledgeable dealer, but I personally like to follow the instructions of Toyota as it is their machine they know it more than anybody else,toyota oil is expensive but good for engine health, previously I was using delo gold but it is packed in pakistan so I am not pretty sure weather it is on spec or not.
Regarding Air Filter, I always use Denso air filter the original one and clean it everytime I go for tyre pressure checking, I have no idea about oil contained filters but those are local made normally and the air intake flow is reduced therefore I think we will get less torque and pick up, the only important thing is that use original filter and keep it clean also make sure that there should not be any leakage where from dirty air can go inside cylinder block,
