Water instead of Coolant in Vitz 2002 Model? Please Advise

Salam Brothers,

Recently I got overhauled the engine of my Toyota Vitz, 2002 model(first generation, automatic). I use tap water for radiator. My Question is: Is it OK to use water instead of Coolant, what are the pros and cons of water/coolant.

Please advise.

Its desi stupidity to use water.
Dont ever go for it.

People always think haye bhai bara mehnga hai coolant etc is liye pani se guzara chalao but think of the trouble it saves you.
Radiator will last longer
No problem with over heating

and it lasts more than 60K kilometer so around 3-6K is nothing buy good coolant

coolant has 5 functions

• anti-rust
• anti-corrosion
• anti-freeze
• detergent
• cooling agent

To be the devil's advocate here, I poured Caltex coolant in my car and it corroded the water pump (water body) and head gasket leaked also. Water was coming out of exhaust in large quantities. So I had to go for a head gasket replacement and all that stuff.

Now I am using water and I know it is not ideal but I am too scared to use the coolant again as my first experience was not good. Engine is same as yours 1SZ-FE.

chances are that there was rust and corrosion present already while using water, the coolant cleared/removed those and it started leaking.
Using coolant is better and recommended, Also Toyota coolant is quite good, not sure about caltex one

always make sure to buy original product from a reliable source

earlier i used toyota long life coolant in my vitz but due to the bad water T connector, all gone wasted and now its short in the market. so i pour aisin....

Toyota long life coolant is the best i had 98 corolla sold it an year ago
All hose pipe were genuine with original clips water body was never changed no rust at all

SAY NO TO WATER in radiator whichever car u have.......USE ONLY TOYOTA LONG LIFE COOLANT
Water will internally damage all its path...

Without coolant, obviously your whole system will get rusted so quick and each month u have to go to mechanic for replacing water body upper flynge, lower flynge, radiator cap, welding of radiator upper cover etc.

U know most of tap water is unfiltered and sourced from Boring or well or by rusty tankers so infact they are "Heavy water" with heavy metals and salts in their composition. Usually people in Khi termed it as "Khaara Paani" so when u add this heavy water inside your radiator, u can imagine what scale of damage they can do with your engine parts.

yes... i had used the same one but all lost because of bad connector... now its short in the market...

Do not trust market...Buy only from Toyota Showrooms/Authorized 3S Dealers.....They must have continuous stock and supply of it.
