Wax aka Polish at car wash/service stations

Is there any use of getting the car waxed after wash the way they do it at service stations I mean just apply and rub after 2 minutes from whole car, they don't even bother if car is in sunlight or shade....so is getting car waxed like that of any use or just useless?

It doesn't get the wax's protection layer to build up and harden which makes it last but does fill up the gaps in paint temporarily so it shines but it won't last even the next wash / spell of rain

Properly done (e.g. I apply on 2-3 panels, rub out the first one and apply on another then rub out the second one and so on) even cosmic (classic one) give the paint a hydrophobic finish for 10-14 days with a wash every other day (where the dirt doesn't accumulate and washing the car with a pipe without any shampoo clears off any dust without rubbing)

Sometimes when I'm in a hurry or don't feel like doing it, I do ask for a quick wax though (results below)

And what are the disadvantages of never getting the car waxed?

Majority of them use the cheapest possible product they can buy. Usually these products are not durable. Only give protection for a couple of days. 2nd thing is the majority of them are cleaner waxes with abrasives which should not be used on the regular basis.

The disadvantage of not using any protection product is the paint will oxidize with time, and it will lose its shine n gloss.
When I say protection product, it could be a wax, sealant or coating.
