What do you think about PLATZ?

Hi,

I checked some reconditioned 2003 Toyota PLATZ in the market. They have 1000 cc engine, reasonable seating space and a trunk. I am thinking about Auto transmission and also plan to put CNG.

The price I got was Rs 630,000 to Rs 680,000, depending upon year, auto options, digital or analog speedometer etc.

Someone said that they are too low, going over speedbreakers can be a problem?

What is your view? How do you compare it with a used 2000 Honda Civic?

well i think platz is better when compared to vitz it has more boot space.after cng. yar its not that much low.

yar dont compare is with a civic yar.civic is another class.

I understand that civic is another class. But you can get a used 2000 Civic VTI for 600,000 or a reconditioned 2003 Platz for 650,000. Which one would you prefer?

Go for the Platz. The built quality is much much better than the locally produced civic.

A good conditioned honda 2000 civic.
coz parts are easily availiable.

big diggy
longer
wider
1600cc engine.\1500cc
good pick
on cng good milage and performance
comfortable ride
good road grip.even with general tyres.

while platz has yet to proof itslef.

go 4 civic but look out for accidentals. . .
cus 600K refers to accidentals . . .

civic 96-00 is well bulit. i know that coz i own it.its even better than the new civic 1.6,1.5 .

First decide weather you want luxury or economy...

Civic offers luxury with a compromise on fuel economy as compared to platz and it would be a 6 or 7 year old car.

Platz offer luxury to some extent and good fuel economy and it would only be 2 or 3 year old car but parts might be a headache in case of Platz.

All said and done...I would suggest you to go for a nice 2000-01 model Baleno...thats a mix of both these cars with cheap and easily available parts.

Thanks for all the input. I am leaning towards the 99/00 Civic VTI. With the all new Civic coming out, I expect a lot of old Civic sellers. Even now you can get one for around 6 laks (in Karachi).

I like the city better but hard to find a good one.Give me a call if you go for the platz and come see the cars.

Also for 650k to you should be able to get a 2000/01 Civic in good condition.

2002 City is a cute car with diggi. How does it run if you have Automatic with CNG?

The build quality of Platz is vastly superior to anything we have here, plus the features you get like Airbags, ABS, VVT-I
engine, standard auto and fully powered. However, the 2001-2002 city is also a good car but no match in quality, although drive is very good compared to even the new city and civics we are getting. Parts of platz are becoming available, and reliability of these cars is awsome, you might not need to get any chance for buying spares for many years, unless you break something yourself! Also, platz is available in 1300 cc and 1500 cc versions, although hard to find and expensive.

o boy i simply love it. the `99 one is pretty ugly like the one posted above but the later models rock! this one's my fave

Oh do u mean this one lol..man i love this car..when u sit in this car u get a feeling of a nie comfy new car whereas the other day i sat in my uncles 98 civic and it felt really conjested and very dull frm the inside ( no doubt the civic's drive is good n so is the engine )...but neways if u want safety,quality,durability and a feel of a new car then go for platz...

p.s: try not going for a reconditioned one..rather try for a 5 grade nice orignal car like mine..i payed 850,000 for it..it's 5 grade..ud be able to get this car in 800k now since teh market is low.. ( offcourse without the rims and tyres )
