Q: What are "individual throttle bodies"?
A:Individual throttle body induction uses one throttle body per cylinder.
Q: What are the benefits of individual throttle bodies?
A: Individual throttle bodies allow the engine to operate more efficiently by decreasing pumping losses to achieve more horsepower. The runner length can be tuned, injectors placed at optimal positions and angles, and air flow speed maximized. The system can be tailored to the engine displacement, compression, cylinder head valve train design.
A properly tuned system can dramatically improve throttle response and decrease intake tract restrictions to increase horsepower.
Manufactures typically prefer the single throttle body design as the system is much less complicated and less costly to produce compared to an individual throttle body system.
Q: What are the benefits of the Individual Throttle Body System?
A: In general, individual throttle bodies are much more complicated than a factory induction system. The general design including throttle linkage, placement, and flow becomes exasperated by a V type engine such as used on the NSX. Individual throttle body systems in general are designed for racing applications that do not have the long use durations before the system can be serviced. Our system is designed to provide reliable operation with extended service intervals. The design and engineering exceeds other products through advanced CAD modeling (such as the 3-dimensional port matched manifold) and airflow analysis. Every component was designed to work together rather than being retrofitted from other applications.
Q: Can the individual throttle bodies be used on a stock engine?
A: The Individual Throttle Body system has been designed to be used with modified engines. The stock induction system is suitable to a stock engine. However, as the engine becomes modified, the stock induction tract will become restrictive and lose efficiency.
Q: What type of engine management is required?
A: At this time, The Individual Throttle Body system requires the use of a cable throttle linkage and stand alone engine management. We offer the AEM Engine Management System with a supplied base calibration for our engine packages.
Q: Can the individual throttle body system be used with forced induction?
A: In theory the system could be used with forced induction. However, due to the pressure and heat generated, the system would need to be significantly modified. We have not tested this configuration, and do not offer support for it's use.
Q: What does the system use for air filtration?
A: The system uses a carbon fiber air box that supports hatch induction or side vent induction. A large filter element is enclosed in the air box that provides excellent air filtration and flow.
