very true - and the person should know how to backflush the engine properly and also remove any stagnant pools of water from inside the heater and engine.

also needs to know whats the contamination, e.g. using citric acid to remove oil is a waste of time, you need a non-foaming soap to clean it.

Once i was doing flush on my QG18de, it was having alot of rust. The gasket was blown & then i replaced the gasket, water jacket, water body and whole cooling system was cleaned then.

Some months ago, I completely flushed the Radiator (I used ABRO radiator Flush, made in States) as well as coolant in my current ride. It took me almost 1.5~2 hours for complete procedure (as I was doing it for the very 1st time, and had no prior experience and confidence, so was extra cautious and a bit scared too ) and it definitely paid back well.

I repeated the cycles 3~4 times, with particular focus on heater cores, etc. And AL HAM DU LILLAH, never faced any issues afterwards.

Cooling system and radiator are as clean as brand new, and working flawlessly MA SHA ALLAH. No leakages, or drop in coolant level, etc. Till now.

In the beginning, very minor drop in coolant level was there for a day or 2, as radiator cap was the culprit. When it got replaced, no issues afterwards.

The way usual mechanics do flushing, etc. (And also detailed by you above), Things may not work fine later, resulting in major issues and losses, GOD Forbid.

You should try with citric acid (tartaric acid / citrus acid / taatri), it works far better, is locally made in Pakistan and cheap too.

If you have “made in Pakistan phobia” then its a different case.

Pakistan is Love, just like Karachi is (and also in reference to Coca Cola billboards throughout Karachi city, I saw during past 01 month stay there).

At that moment and time, that flush seemed a reasonable option to me (was cheap too, around Rs. 350 for 01 bottle, instead of other fancy products, costing in 4 digits) that's why opted it, otherwise, nothing particular about it.

last I checked - citric acid or oxalic acid for rust cleanup is supremely cheap. You can get kgs of it for low price.

The good thing about them is that you can adjust the molality of the solution as required, The instant flush bottles usually are very tame/weak and quite expensive when you consider what is in them.

2 years back when I shifted from zic to Toyota coolant I did the flush with liquimoly radiator flush using following method:

1: Drained little like 300ml coolant from radiator. Then poured all the flush bottle directly into radiator and let the car idle for 15 minutes with heater on at Hi.
2: Drained all the coolant and poured water and repeated step 1.
3: Drained the water and filled with coolant with engine on and let the air escape with throttle pressed at 3k rpms with 2 fan cycles and later added coolant in reservoir after 10km drive back home that’s it.

Now that coolant is 2years old and 40k done still the colour remains the same with rust free radiator. Driven on motorways at max speeds for my car 130-140 for 2 hours straight and never faced any issues. Engine stays happy at 89-91 with AC and 95-96 without then the fan turns on.

I think I messed it up, did it in 2011 mehran ,poured in citric acid solution, Turned on the car , with choke I believe 3K rpm and heater at full, let it there for 30 minutes. But when I came back, and turned off the car, I noticed that the pipe i opened for draining was not properly tightened and steam was leaking through it. Tried to open radiator cap slowly using a cloth, it took me a while to drain all the steam, and radiator seemed empty, seems water kept flowing out of that leak. After flushing again with water, I drove 10 minutes , and when I tried to open radiator cap, felt too much pressure. Please guide, what it indicates? should i get gaskit checked ?

this is an attempted engine murder.
Better visit a workshop replace head gaskit.

I have akto 1000cc 2008 and it started throwing white smoke and radiator water is showing bubbles i think head gasket is gone how much it will cost to replace anyone guide me please

I travelled around 120 km on GT road yesterday and at end of journey, radiator water level was exactly same, also car didnt show any sign of getting hot (needle remained between L and half of the guage). Hope everything is fine then ?
