I want to know about rear disc brake system in car.
can the front hubs be used at rear of car.

2. hand brake operates on rear wheels it must have drum brake so this point tells NO

i am bit confused please clear me this thing.

Charade GTti has 4 wheel disc brakes and same generation charade has only two front wheel disc brakes.

how to make a two disc brake into 4 wheel disc brake

Have you seen small drums on inner side of rear disc brakes unit? those drums are for handbrake

yes ,,swap to similar car possible

eg: i can change rear drums to rear discs brakes in corolla and would also have the handbrake end remade that locks into handbrake lever because handbrake cable end slight different.

well to start withyou are in the right direction.

Hub size is the same and yes the front disc can be placed at the back but they do not come with the rear handbrake system if you have a drum hand brake system.

But you have to know why the rear brakes are smaller or drum brakes and the fronts are bigger and not drums. The reason is that there is less braking effort required at the rear compared to the front end. So what are the reason for you to have rear discs on your car? Are you going to be using it for track use or a place where there will be more braking effort required...........

in fact i wanted to put rear disc brake in a car.
civic after 97 came with 4 wheel disc brakes.
charade 88 GTti came with same setup but same generation with old setup.

My question is if i go to bilal gunj and get disc brakes with hubs for charade can i fit them at rear?

should i buy only disc brake and just come back and fix them on existing hub?

I understand that rear brakes are not optimized as front ones as they got bigger hub and disc. but I just wanted to do it just for my learning and understanding.

Ok for the Gtti not only the rears are disc but the front disc are bigger on the GTTi then the regualr model. So if you are going to be changing the rears I say change the front ones too.

So if you go buy the rear discs from the used car part market or bilal gunj makes sure you get the whole brake assembly with the hub assembly for the rear and the hand brake shoe or drum to be included. As Daihatsu does share its parts with Toyota and are similar I think that the rear hand brake is a smaller drum with in the rear disc.

As for any modification there should be none required other then making place for the caliper but at times you might need a suspension change to if the disc is in the way of the suspension system.

i will try to get rear disc brakes with drum and complete setup. as nowadays second hard market is not much filled with charade parts i will also look for something to fit in charade like of toyota.

yes u r very true about suspension. need to check it too.

if one has to expand the distance between wheels they place spacers. and similarly to uplift spring spacer is placed.
in earlier case where will be the spacer placed?

reason for asking if disc brake comes in way of suspension can spacer work for it?

Spacer will not work as you will have to relocate the Caliper too, but I think if suspension does come in the way just get the GTTi suspension and it will automatically be relocated and it should be just bolt on. Again I am talking abuot the suspension as a precaution, it might be that bad.

Spacers only work after the brake assembly where you do not have to move anything other then the wheel.

when u get bored of my questions let me know brother. as u might remember i love to do DIYs but playing with brakes is most critical part. even more hazardeous than lying under car working on it and car is lifted on jacks.

The disc is just attached to the hub usually by nothing more then the four bolts that attach the wheel, so you remove the wheel the discs can be pulled off to once the calipar is move out of the way. On some cars it is screwed to the hub using 2 or more screws, usually on earlier cars or on some German cars. Nothing special attaches them. The attachment as simple as placing it on the lugs as shown in the pics.

yes same as the front ones, that is if the car comes equipped with one.

No one booster is good enough but I think you are talking about the Master Cylinder not the vaccum assisted booster. Yes same equipment will apply but you can. The brake distribution is in the Master brake cylinder itself so no need of any external device unless you think there is a need for it.

Just found out that rear discs from the gti or the Detomaso are perfect swap to the rear drum system no need to relocate the suspension.

before playing with brakes i am really conscious about the disaster if God forbid happens.
i am really thankful to your kind help here.
the way disc is placed i understood now what about the brake pads i mean there is something on the upper side of disc brake is attached, does it come with discs or it is purchased separately i feel whole kit and isolated parts would be available
inshallah after Eid i will go to market to get this stuff.

secondly little knowledge is dangerous
