What is a donation seat in medical college? Is it like rishwat (bribery) or something?

I heard it from a friend online. He said if you do bad or get less marks in entry test then apparently you can buy a seat and get admission this way. Hes from sindh but is it the same everywhere? Is sindh more corrupted when it comes to this? Please tell me if this is true.

You have to pay certain amount to buy the seat if you don't fall in the merit list. They call it donation. I think court has declared this practice illegal but still i guess some colleges are doing it. People even pay 10 million or more to buy the seats.

as per my info, it is not bribery, that seat is not subsidized by govt. as other merit seats are (since you have heard govt. spends a certain amount of money in making doctor, a doctor) ... so this practice is to fund the medical college and help them in their expenses.

Yes you can. Also some private colleges have some seats reserved for foreign students and they charge more than normal fee for such seats. Just another way to mint more money
