can any body tell me what is an aftermarket fender i saw guys talking about civic;s fenders
is it the mudguard portion

Fender is the portion covering your tyres, all four of them. eg the front right fender is the part starting from where the bumper ends to where the right front door begins. From the hood/bonnet to the tyre. That is a fender in the car. There are other meanings to it also, like intrument to play music, etc

This would be a front left fender in a car

this is how your car would look like without the front left fender.

fender is the only a brim line encirculing the tyre.If you see picture above you ll find a man touching the portion of mud guard thats is exactly the fender...people like to make it fancy or need beautification, prefer to install many objects of rubber ,plastic or nickle chromium.

You are kidding, right? lol! If not you need to lookup a dictionary coz that whole piece is refered to as fender.

mudguard is the inner part of the fender which is exposed to the tyre and you can clearly see it with the fender removed in the second pic.
