What is IDSI?

Salam Pakwheelers,
I have always been curious what is IDSI and what difference does it make. Would appreciate if anyone could shed some light upon it and explain how it works.

Idsi stands for intelligence dual sequential ignition, this engine was made for good fuel economy, it has two valves per cylinder and has 8 spark plugs instead of 4 this in return maximizes fuel economy. Really it us a reliable and economical engine.

Intelligence dual sequential ignition
As the name suggests it ignites every cylinder two times. It burns any un burnt fuel to maximize economy. Each cylinder has 2 plugs and they fire one after the other. This also made the engine produce max torque at lower rpms.

How come this Technology/Engine isn't present in newer cars. Newer Honda City produced lower mileage than IDSI previous one.
there must have been some downsides to this engine as well forcing it out of production

No bro , idsi was more fuel efficient than new city. The new city has a more powerful and advanced engine then idsi so its good thing they changed it although idsi was more economical. Its common for a manufacturer to bring new engine when new model of a car is introduced.

contact qingqi ricksha meter service shops - they have all the VSS units you would want. including cable to digital square wave, pull up/pull down etc.

Honda were very very late to this party,

Toyota did that on their ancient 3tgte engine found in corona gt, nissan did that on their old stanzas and mercedes did that on the old m112 and m113 engines. It was to induce a fuller burn to make older tech engines comply to lower emmission standards.

Newer engines dont need that help now.

Some old bike people can tell you of twin plugging bmw flat engines from ancient times to eek better and reliable starting.
