What is the effect of pre-out voltage of hu on sound quality?

Hi guys,

Planning to change my stock HU to a good quality after market HU. Options are:

1. Pioneer 4350 - 4v preout
2. kenwood 7036BT - 2v preout
3. kenwood 8036BT - 5v preout (if available)

Just curious to know what is the exact role of preout voltage on overall sound system. Does it make a huge difference in sound output / quality ?? Is this a feature that should be considered when buying a HU ??

Need suggestions to make a decision.

amplifier gain knob is actually there to match the output voltage of the pre with the input of amp. amps usually clip on higher setting and this gain knob starts from a high volt to lower volt setting. so for pres with higher volt outs, u dont need to turn the gain up that much and consequently u get less or no distortion.

in simple words, u will have to set the gain twice as high for a pre with 2 volt out as compared to one with 4 volts out. and lesser gain u have to open, the better.

Thanx for the explanation. I was really looking forward to buying 7036 but cz it has 2v preout only so guess i've to drop that from the option list.....

Guys I've heard from a couple of shop owners that Kenwood 7036 n 8036 r having problem. When digital media is connected they become very slow n even hang. Due to lot of customers complaining d distributor s have stopped their supply.

So guys what is d next option? Pioneer 4350 and Ms 8 ?? How does this sound?
