twin means two n cam means camshaft which operates inlet and oulet vavle so eniges written twin cam over it means two camshafts operating intelet and outlet valves

hello!
twin cam is the same thing as DOHC( Dual Over Head Cam)...it means as u think it buy twin that there are two cams working in one cylinder....1 cams control 1 inlet one exhaust and the other also do the same 1 inlet one exhaust so 1 cylinder=4 valves....overall if car is of 4 cylinder do it make 16vales (4*4=16)
so u see behind car "16 Valve Twin cam" or new corolla" 16 vave Twin cam Z-gen tech"
so its simply increase in one cam per cylinder

its not cam per cylinder,
SOHC Cam means 1 Camshaft per engine
DOHC (TWIN CAM) means 2 Camshafts per engine......
