Hi,
I have just got a Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6. There is this strange button in it. Some kind of rolling button. Please see attached pics. Can anyone tell me what is this button for??
usually such buttons are for controlling headlights beam level.
This seems to be the instrument cluster illumination dimmer switch.
This seems a probable answer. Suddenly a few days back the instrument cluster illumination went dim without any reason when I drove it one night. May be I messed with the switch somehow unintentionally in the day time. I'll test tomorrow and see if this is really the thing.
This button is the instrument panel dimmer switch, has nothing to do with the headlights.
You can adjust the speedometer light through this button.
this sort of control is present in Lancers since 1986...with digital cluster

For all others, thanks for your answers. Yeah it is a switch to control meter and instrument panel lights' intensity.
