What kind of battery is hankook?

IS Hankook battery like the one attached a Wet cell, Calcium-calcium or a VRLA battery?
if VRLA then is it AGM or Gel based?
normally battery says in the technical specs or the box what kind is it but this is silent
okay so it does say calcium but never seen any other battery in meeting this category, is this unique to hankook?

i need to know because my car charger requires me to select the type of battery before charging as it has different charging programs for each type, calcium is not mentioned on it, do i select AGM?

also arent most maintenance free batteries same as wet batteries just with the holes blanked off?

this is not VRLA AGM type, its a standard wet cell lead calcium flooded battery whose gassing voltage is higher than 15V. The serial number also denotes it. If you look closely you will find a hole for a breathing tube on the side of this cell cap.

Put it on standard battery quick charge for 30 minutes then make the charging unit a tender and leave it for 12 hours.

zulfiqar bhai, in my experience, despite being designed for higher voltage, it works similar to or better than the scrap sold here. Atleast you don't have to worry about getting good acid or the nightmare of an acid leak.

Whoa- what scrap? Standard AGS and EXCIDE lot? In my experience they tend to last twice as long as these fancy maintenance free batteries, when properly kept. And they cost half as much as these imported ones. That makes them 4 times better!

Is it a trend now, that each and every thing produced in Pakistan must be called scrap?

thanks and just to confirm, i have this s4 bosch battery in the mercedes, again type is not mentioned anywhere, is this also simple wet cell battery and not AGM?

and shahnawaz was selling and recommending this battery for my car, it was wet cell and had individual holes on top for liquid, the cost was 42k, said it was expensive due to shipping etc, is the mb battery any good for the price?

the MB battery is excellent - its a regular wet cell lead antimony battery but super long life - mind you that you will have to keep an eye on it and top it up.

MB recommend VRLA batteries for all cars which have batteries in interior - wet are used in engine room or in boot.

okay, compare these with the ones sold abroad, the ones of same chemistry.

Why do they last longer?

Our experiences may be different, but the local ones never met my expectations.

I have had the local ones prematurely die (even the one that came with the car, from the factory.....with a good charging system and the factory electrolyte)

Then the headache of dealing with corrosion when acid gets to the top.

With the maintenance free, i don't have to care about electrolyte level or corrosion.

I had good experience with the Solite maintenance free.

Twice deep discharged, yet still recovered well after recharging on the UPS. That battery is past it's second year, and the way it is going, i expect it to last pretty long, despite it's bad history

Similarly, Volta maintenance free lasted 5+ years on our corolla.

why do i read about batteries going as far as 8 years...why not here

I'd happily get a maintenance free battery because i won't have the headache of first finding good electrolyte for it, then checking the level,with maintenance free just put it in and get done with it.what i want to say is; the ones made here have not seen any major design improvement in a long while.

Otherwise, I'd be happy to have locally made stuff, it would be much cheaper. I would rather have money going to the workers of my own country.

Brother it costed the same as Bosch, i bought this one because it was fresh dated. I am using the same thing in my other vehicle for years.. Spending money in some other good upgrade would be more good. I recently purchased a BMW tenere bike that was like 2011ish model and it comes with acid battery. I doubt the logic of Mr. xulfiqar. I remember this one costed like 20ish thousand and Bosch was available for 22k, When your vehicle was imported from japan it came with Bosch one.. may be lying somewhere in my stores still..

The hankook super expensive batteries on 2 of my cars and a generator died within warranty. Were purchased from modern battery house melody isb.
They replaced 2 and one was sent for some stupid lab test and never made it back to me.
I have good experience with AGS or any other OK brand of pakistani manufactured battery.
They do require maintenanace but I have found them to be more reliable in extreme heat of Pakistan.
Lead acid is not recommended for below zero temperatures though.

I guess so. Because most of the things produce/manufacturer in PK are even worst than “Made in China”.

It is because we, as a nation, believe in cheap stuff. Quality and longevity only becomes a concern once we've bought the stuff. Before buying though, price usually makes the strongest case.
We are not ready to pay good prices for local stuff, doesn't matter how well it's made or how nice it is. For us, expensive things have to bears a fancy foreign tag, or come with a raging rivers of advertise.

Over the time, this trend pushed manufacturers to focus on cutting the corners and supply what sells. Many of them start with the best they could provide, and are gradually forced to compromise just to survive. It's the same story in all industries and trades of life.
