Ford really nailed it with the Figo pricing. Now even the Polo will find it hard to justify its case but IMHO I do agree German toys come at a premium.

Now with the latest gossip that Micra will follow suit in the same pricing bracket as that of the Figo, Maruti is bound to blink for the first time ever.

@Nick Any inside info on the release date of Aria? I am eager to see a first drive report.

Significant, because the two cars in the pic are solely responsible for earning their bread and butter and enabling expansion of their respective brands. Whoever thought that the Jetta will drive the Corolla to the sidewalk till the Altis came along with attractive pricing to even things a bit. Nothing succeeds like competition!.

Alarming for Toyota but not for me. When you can buy the Getz hatch brand new for RS3.67lac plus tax ex-Chennai, why should Toyota get away with charging large sums of money for a medium size sedan as the Corolla?. I'm waiting for the Toyota Road Show to come to Chennai as they are promising to make amends with the 'Etios'. I couldn't check it out upclose at the New Delhi Auto Expo as it was on a revolving platform. Till then. Did you check out the new Wagon-R pics in the link above?.I'd like your opinion.

^@nick, loved the Figo adds... they also justified the red interior , btw Toyota coming up wid smaller sedans cud be because either to compete smaller sedans or eithr taking the corolla to next level. i.e no more standard version or economical trims they might be planing to take corolla one step up and then expect low sales from Corolla and give its share to other cars such as Vios/ Belta and Etios, this wud make corolla competing its sister brand rivals as in Suzuki ritz, alto, splash, swift, zen etc

@nick, i didnt noe Micra was a debut for Nissan in India. but belive it or not as they know small cars are market leaders there they made a bold step to start up with small cars creating competition unlike wat Nissan and VW did in Pakistan nd died before many people came to know about them

hey nick. saw the FIGO on road in NEW DELHI . and must admit the cars size is just perfect for the INDIAN roads ,also the car looks decent and is not at all flashy.I saw the top of the line TITANIUM model in white and a base model test drive model also in white within minutes of each other ..
but could not click pictures as I was driving ..
FORD has got a right product for the market now..and the price is killing good..

i was taking about Gandhara Group. not Nissan and UD or Nissan trucks indivisualy.

I gush about the Figo 'cause of it's pricing. If Ford keeps it's A.S.S.(After Sales & Service :P) up then there's no stopping the sales growth of this brand.

The Hyundai Getz is now available at RS3.67lac ex-showroom , Chennai. A premium hatch for the price of an A-Star!. Buy one while stocks last as it is this model's last year in this market.

The Toyota Q-Revolution Road Show will be in Chennai at the Trade Center this weekend, 27-28 March. Lots more news and info coming soon.

Street BEAT. It looks better than it photographs, or it's just my style of making nice cars look ungainly and awkward!. So be. In the 3rd pic you can see all the cars lined up in the "car only" lane and that surprised me till i espied the patrol van in the same line!. So much for voluntary observance of traffic rules here.

Now look at what Toyota came up with - Etios :eek:. Even the concept looks so passe. In fact all their models in the Indian market are so boring. I do appreciate the introduction of Innova replacing that Box-on-wheels Qualis but that's all about it. Someone please tell Toyota that its time to take the Indian market a little seriously or the likes of VW and GM are more than happy to big-bite its pie.

The Etios looks like the Logan should have four years back!. Anyways, i shall check it out upclose at the Toyota Road Show if they'll let me in the hall this weekend and file a report. A sales rep at one of the Toyota dealers here confirmed that the price will be in the RS7-8lac range. Let's see. The hatch version looks cool but i guess there are too many hatchbacks in the market versus compact sedans.

In Delhi, the showroom is at AMP Motors on Janpath and displays the entire product range including the Jaguar XJ, XF, XK and the Land Rover Freelander 2, Discovery 4, and Range Rover Sport.

JLR plans to open more showrooms in other cities. "We are pursuing plans to expand our reach to other cities in the country as well," he added.

In the next fiscal, the company will open dealerships in cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and a greenfield showroom in Ludhiana.

TATA Motors' owned JLR has seen a turnaround in its business in the last quarter of 2009, with the UK-based company posting net profits of about $82 million, after posting losses in the previous quarter.

It reported a 60 per cent rise in sales in February 2010 as well, selling 17,197 cars around the world.

Apparently, GM is serious about adding the Camaro to it's Indian lineup. This car has been touring dealerships in potential markets and sufficient interest has been received.
