Acc. to GM officials i chatted up with at the New Delhi Auto Expo, approx. price is expected to be between RS 25-30lacs for a V6 auto tranny version. The average price in US is between $24-25,000 for the V6 model and the exchange is RS45.11 as of today and i've factored in the 100% import duty in the price. Expect the V8's to cost a bit more. GM can also negotiate with the Tax authorities too to bring the price down if they want to. There are atleast eight German luxury models that are available in the market here priced between RS35-50 lacs and a Camaro ain't going to fetch more than these cars here!. For eg., the Q5 can be yours for RS37lacs right now, if you got the money. A locally assembled 3-series is now available at RS23-25lacs maxing out at RS28lacs for the fully loaded versions!. GM(India) has had a successful run with some imports including Hummers for some years now, so it's not that unusual a move. The market demographic is also changing where not every car has to be practical and carry five adults!. Lifestyle changes dictate moves in the market.Ford is reviving it's import portfolio too so expect the Mustang to show up and it's cheaper than the Camaro!. See the next post for updates on Ford.

Royal Enfield has launched the Electra Twinspark with a 346cc single cylinder, 4-stroke, OHV, air cooled, Twinspark Unit Construction Engine (UCE) as the company upgrades its bikes to Bharat Stage IV emission norms which go into effect on the 1st of next month.Weighing in at 180 kgs, the Electra Twinspark is capable of hitting a top speed of 120 kmph.

The Octavia VRS was in front of me at the gas station and i had to chase down the HSE Sport. Well, not really, but it felt like it. I was going down the same oneway street too. I still rememver the growl from the VRS' belly as it took off. This car is a primeval animal.woof woof

The FIAT Adventure is one of my fav station wagons. FIAT is putting an earnest effort to gain market share here and i wish them all success. I liked the 2-door Pajero too. Mitsubishi markets the Pajero as the Montero in this market available only in 4-door format. A pity.

I dropped in at a TATA Motors owned dealership and checked out the ARIA MPV. No photos permitted as TATA Motors has not announced the formal release date yet in the market. Fit and finish is excellent as is the space and pleasing design. I will post pics as soon as i'm allowed to take them. The ARIA is TATA Motors entry into the most important North American market and looks very similar to the Caravan. Meanwhile , below in the pics is a Vista hatchback in new 2010 trim and the Xenon pickup too.

Very soon. The dealership that got the 1st batch is a wholly owned by TATA Motors and Woe is the sales guy who allows photos that show up on the net. That's the reason i'm not pushing. The car will be on display at all TATA dealers here shortly and i'll post a review. My impressions?. An Innova or Caravan clone and that ain't a bad thing!.

This one ain't bad too!. Atleast it doesn't look like an enlarged Elantra like the E-Class!.

Maruti-Suzuki joins the select group of companies that manufacture and sell 1 million cars within a calender or fiscal year and for 2009-20 the 1 millionth car to roll out of the factory was a current gen. Swift. The all new Wagon-R and Swift is only going to push the sales graph even further!. I came across a couple of nice Maruti-Suzukis today. The bulk of Marutis are between the RS3-5lac range and that explains it all!.
