Here's my review despite me deleting a pic of the test car and engine bay while fidgeting with the images in my phonecam!
(Rating from 1 to 5 smiles)
Engine: Torquey diesel that feels like a petrol. Silent is the word.
Seating: Corolla comfy and we all know what that means.
Ergonomics: Good quality fit and finish, easy to read dials with excellent illumination combined with a superb factory fitted music system.
Drive:This ain't a race car , it's a mileage cruiser. After we drove out of city limits and i built up some speed the turbo kicked in and it was all good. I didn't check the rpm meter. My omission. Thanks to the intercooler and turbocharger the engine performs like a more powerful car. The speed run was limited as it is Friday and traffic piles up fast late afternoon here. The 6-speed transmission is smooth.
Overall: This is a fleet car, no doubt about it and it is it's intended market but the more expensive 'HG' version comes fully loaded with all the bells and whistles and can be driven by a private buyer who wants a Corolla and the economy that a diesel offers . Else, like most budget conscious private buyers , wait for the Toyota ETIOS compact sedan to debut in the Indian auto market for sale in November. The radiator grill distinguishes this car from the petrol version.
My evening commute through the gloom.
@430p approx!:((gloomy weather). Atleast the roads were clear.
Dealing with a dodgy cabbie in the Indica squeezing through lanes!
Relatively normal traffic for a Friday evening
Wasn't all that bad, i must say. How was your commute today?.
The Prius is now part of the regular line up here.
later...
Is the deisel Corolla avalible in auto tranny to?
Prius (Y)
No auto tranny offered as of now. By coincidence the Altis Diesel was on display at one of the malls i chose to visit and i took some more pics.
A few Sunday spottings before i review the new VW Vento and BMW5 series sedans in detail.
The day started off well i must say,sun and all. Before noon however things turned gloomy and wet and there went my beach plans out the window!. Well, that's how it is. Hope you like my spottings.
Something Skoda and with the launch of the Yeti followed by the impending launch of a new Octavia this marque is on a roll.
And, something Audi too i might add. Part of the VW invasion of India!
I told you the day started off swell!. Pity these are the only images of the all new 2011 Bentley Mulsanne thanks to my phonecam which takes forever to focus. The side view is cool but the front and rear was a bit off,IMO.
The Nissan Micra is a hit with female drivers in Chennai. Lots of them popping up everywhere.
Going creative?.
The Rolla at the dealership and the at the mall seems differnet trimms?
The Pearl wite color looks nyc
And that yummy polo i wish it could come to Pakistan some time soon
And The micra is a nice sight too, saw some in Thailand last month. way better looking then the previus model,
@chinyoti
The car in the mall must have been the base model. There are three trim levels on offer.I like the Polo too.
I'm still driving and i'll see y'all a bit later..
More pics!
^ be safe, btw the one at the mall seems top of the line having headlight washers and fog lamps, the one at the dealer doesnt seems to have the goodies
One has to 'be safe' on the roads here. Always. And, you're right about the Altis diesel trim. I threw away the spec sheet when i got home from the dealer else i would have given more details in my review.
Meanwhile as the headline of this post implies F1 driver Lewis Hamilton will be in Chennai 17Sep and a lucky few will get to ride with him in a Merc SL63AMG car on the Madras Race Track, courtesy of Vodaphone!. Here's details on how to enter below:

Also, came across this spotting pic in the Bangalore imports thread of T-bhp website. This is what i call a spotting, don't you agree?.
ditto man.. how i wish it was available here... it would be better than all hatchbacks here (cuore, alto and even vitz and i.s.t) ...

What a superb way to pimp and already loaded car! I'm loving it. And also, Skoda has no plans to launch the new Octavia this year, it will happen May '11.
