I like the bug, especially in yeller. I might run into the Lancer in the pic again this weekend as the 5th round of the POLO Cup is on at the Madras Race Track and there's a motorhead meet planned. Everything should go according to plan unless the rain Gods decide otherwise. There's been two rain free days here and that's so cool. I hope it stays this way.

Another gloomy day and it is raining now:(. I hope the weekend doesn't get messed up.

Confirmed news from media and manufaturers. The all new Maruti-Suzuki Swift will be released in market February 2011 and the all new Hyundai Verna(Accent in some markets) in June2011.

Appreciate your comment. re: rain, not fond of the gloom more than anything and the rain has been never ending here. A few hours or a day of respite followed by downpours. By the way, it is pouring in my locality as i type.

My first street capture of the Vento. I've seen many on the road but have been unable to photo and seems like this car is playing out like VW wants it to in this market.

I've never really given play to the Estilo in this thread.

Reporting a couple of import cars launched in market in the utility segments.

Volvo XC60

Swedish auto maker Volvo has launched its new luxury SVU "XC60" in the Indian market. Volvo XC60 is the safest Volvo car in India, powered by 2.4-litre five-cylinder diesel engine which gives 205bhp of power and 420Nm of torque.

Volvo XC60 will be imported as CBUs and available in four colors and the interiors come with four upholstery colours.

Price of Volvo XC60 in India:

Rs. 39.50 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi)
Rs. 41.41 Lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai with Octroi)

Mercedes-Benz R-Class

The 2011 Mercedes Benz R-class has been launched in India (actually Oct07 but i forgot to report the launch here earlier) for a price tag of Rs. 58.79-lakh. The variant of the R Class launched here is the R350 4Matic which is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine good for 272bhp worth of power and 350Nms of torque output. The full size MPV will be imported via the CBU route and deliveries are expected to start in November. There are no plans for a diesel variant as of now.

Vento does look good on the street and the R Class is selling quite well acc. to published sources. I'll try and post showroom pics next week, time permitting. The Santa Fe is the first SUV from Hyundai that i actually like looking at and we'll start to see this car on the road beginning next month to have a better perspective.
