Wheel size recommendations for Corolla Gli 2019

We have a Toyota Corolla Gli 2019 model and it has stock steel wheels and 195/65/R15 tyres.

Someone is selling 16 inch Altis wheels, with average condition Yokohama tyres 205/55/R16 cheaply. They are original as I know the seller well.

Is it a good idea of using 16 inch Rims and 205/55/R16 wheels on a Corolla 1.3? What could be implications or downsides of doing that. I believe diameter if the wheel+tyre will be the same as the stock wheel+tyre since stock one has more height.

There should be no issue in using 205/55/R16 on your GLI as the higher trims like Altis & Grande already come with this tyre size from factory. Toyota just cheaps out on the lower trims to save money. Furthermore, the wider wheels and tyres will make the car look better and provide a little more grip. The fuel average should remain almost the same as the difference is only 10mm.

Is suspension same for GLi and Altis variants?

Suspension is little softer in 1.6 and 1.8 compare to GLi.

On original rims of manufacturer recommended size and offset, there are no downsides.

On Chinese, Taiwanese, so called Thai rims we buy from local market the rim is heavier than same size steel rim so it affects suspension, performance and fuel economy and only purpose is cosmetics.

Meanwhile factory alloy rims are lighter than steel rims and have positive affect on above factors, the 16" if not lighter would be at least around same weight as stock steel rims.

My only concern with this possible switch was the impact on suspension. Wanted to make sure I'm fine with it since these are an inch bigger rims but also lower tyre profile.

Brother go for it won't gonna harm suspension. The more you think more questions arise so I would recommend do it don’t think much.

Took the rims and tyres. I will install them in few days.
