Which Battery to buy?

Need to replace my santro's battery...which brand is great these days.....Phoenix, Volta, AGS ? most dealers are recommending Phoenix...i have no personal experience...I have used Volta most of the time....any views on this.....

I had good experiance with AGS. Last year installed FB so far its working ok.

thing is all these local batteries now last 1 year or 1.5 max. and they give just 6 Months warranty that also does not cover full cost. Only phonix use to give one year warranty and full cost covered one check if this is the case than go for it its a good battery.

other wise I will suggest AGS.

Avoid Volta/Osaka at all cost.

I have very good experience with AGS in my vitz, in my opinion you should go for that one.

i'm using/ have used Osaka, Yuasa, Hankook, AGS & Exide in my cars, so far no complaints. best thing to do is buy the best possible battey you cna in your budget and make sure it comes with a warranty.

i used to worry about batteries but the truth is that they are almost all the same (excluding bosch, AC Delco etc) and they should all give you about 4 years or trouble free motoring.

there is a really good battery guy in G-8 markaz where the workshops are (next to the CNG shop. if you'd like i can get his details. the guys there are honest and also buy your old batterys from you (almost everyone does).

like he sayd....more or less, they all work the same if used with care and caution.

never let the technician short out its terminals to 'check' if its gud or not.

keep the water level in check, never put anything but distilled water in it.

never let it discharge more than 50%...let alone fully, plain old lead-acid batteries aren't designed for it.

keep the charging system in check, make sure it dont charge over ~ 14.5v, we dont want to fry it.

heat will always be a lead-acid battery's big-time killer.

just make sure u get a new battery and not a recycled one.

4 Phoenix running in my ups system , MashaAllah v good so far

Never buy Volta, v bad exp with it, bought it twice n both times one of its cells developed some kind of prob , at last sold it for a negligible amount so a big NO to Volta

Used Panasonic dry battery in my Alto n it worked gr8 for complete 5 years MashAllah
After Panasonic Installed Exide which was good but in my opinion my 5 years old Panasonic was good than the brand new exide so sold it as I was not satisfied with it ( though no problems) n bough a Hankook as Panasonic was not aval in pesh, n Hankook is rocking mashaAllah

AGS came factory fitted in my other car n its also good so far ( cant say anything as its just a few months old battery)

So far i have used AGS, Exide and FB. Among them, FB turned to be the bestt and long lasting. I have FB in all of my cars, so far it is performing very well. The oldest i have is in my Alto. It has been 3 years since it was installed, n Allhamdoulillah still going strong and no problems at all. AGS and Exide both lasted around 1.5-2 years. My '08 jimny also came with a Japanese FB battery and it also performed very well.

any good made local battery can work wonders if you feed it with pure electrolyte - i.e. made with distilled water and acid having an SG of 1.270 - once charged, put into service and left alone overnight the battery should have a charge of 12.6V.

It will surely keep you worry free in the battery dept. Thats how I prep the battery and our local pakistani exides of nominal size have started mercedes diesels - (ask anyone who owns a Benz - and they will tell you that Pakistani batteries cannot start a german diesel)

AGS, I use it for my Car, bike, UPS (home) and all are AGS, and Yes its taken care by Atlas Honda, and these come factory fitted with each Honda.

In my surrounding among the local battery its priced above all.
