Which compact SUV should I buy in this time?

Salam/Hello,

I have a budget of 70lac and looking to own an SUV for a shorter time period since we are moving to Canada back in 2023/2024. So can someone guide which SUV should be optimal to use and worry-free in terms of reselling?

You can't get any decent suv in that range, all of them will be around 12 15 year old, which pretty much is a recipe for disaster and given now how crossovers have taken over, people prefer buying them so even if you find a well maintained prado or a lc it'll still be hard to sell.

They only full size SUV (not crossovers) in around 7M would include 100 series land cruiser and 120 series Prado. These both are great cars and extremely reliable but owners over here have somehow made their engines blow up at 100,000 kms which is nothing for these engines when compared Internationally. I would suggest Sportage (crossover not an SUV) as it's the closest thing to an SUV and has the best resale among all the crossovers with no such issues as well.

how about crossover suv's then? I really like mg hs but i am scared of its future. Which crossover suv will you suggest me?

Sportage and Tuscon are doing great but they are outdated as compared to their rivals, these both are simple and straight forward vehicles with no gimmick features. I personally own Sportage, my family is hesitant to get a chinese, otherwise haval is really nice company, i've lived in china it's their top seller brand always. But due to the bans now, really can't say which company will hold up and which will not, so sportage seemed like a safe buy to me.
Mg Hs is quite controversial, given the country's current situation nothing can be said. i would suggest get a tuscon or sportage, they are well set in the market and will be easy to sell as well.

I was in a similar situation when I knew I’d be relocating soon, so I wanted an SUV that felt sturdy but wouldn’t give me trouble when it came time to sell. I ended up going with a Sportage too and honestly, no regrets. It’s simple, drives comfortably, and doesn’t scream “high maintenance.” I stayed away from MG because of that same unpredictability you mentioned—it’s a decent vehicle but right now isn’t really the time to take that kind of resale gamble.

By the way, when I moved to Montreal, I sold the car a couple months before and just used short-term rentals after that until the flight. It worked out better for timing everything and avoiding last-minute stress.
