I installed a Sharp 1 Ton inverter last season, and it worked great. My reasons to buy an imported unit were 3.
1. Cooling
2. Economy
3. Durability
Review after a season:
Cooling
Cooling was great!! The room was not a big one but still it was on the roof and it was hard for a 1 ton AC to cool it. And AC worked flawlessly even in very high temperature of +- 48 degrees. It reduces temperature in like 20 mins may be.
I am satisfied with the cooling.
Economy
Economy was a big plus with my purchase and for the satisfaction. The AC used to run 24/7. I even turned it off after 4 days once for an hour may be.
The electricity consumption was no more than PKR 6500 per month by this AC. We have a seprit electricity meter on the roof, and it was the only AC installed there.
I got 15000 bill after first month of installation, and that was because I didn't know how to use it. I ran the AC on turbo mode and it was working on its maximum for the whole month. (On turbo mode AC’s inverter technology stops working and AC works maximum to provide cooling). But later I checked how to use it and there you go, 2.5 amps all the time after the room temperature is achieved. PKR 6500 the very next month.
Durability
Overall the build quality is good. But the indoor unit produced noise. I had to put some tissue under the cover to make it noiseless. I called sharp and they came very next day and fixed it. But problem still persists.
Durability really depends upon time as well! I’ll see how it performs in the upcoming years and will post if I’ll remember.
