Which Engine Oil for recently bought Civic 2008

Hello everyone,
I need the help from the experts here, please. I recently bought a civic 2008. The ODO meter is at 100300 km. I asked the previous owner which engine oil is he using, he said he is using "Havoline 20w-50 API SG." I have no idea about oils but I read somewhere that this oil is too thick and can damage the car engine. But before suggestion, I want to bring a few things in your notice.

It is a single hand used car, I will be the second owner.
The car engine is in perfect condition, by perfect I mean the engine is really neat and clean and soundless.
The car was in Karachi.
The car will be used in Islamabad.

Kindly, recommend me should I stick with the same engine oil the previous owner was using or should I change it? Another question is, will the sudden change in the type of engine oil affect the engine?

Kindly reply as I will need to change the engine oil ASAP.

5w30 is recommended for your car
if the engine is in good condition then you wont any issues but i would recommend that you go for a 10w30 oil first then on the next oil change opt for 5w30
Keep an eye on the oil levels

Bro soundless engine doesn't always mean that it is fine. However for ur car 100000 kms isnt high at all. Opt for 5w30 fully synthetic. And if ur car starts reducing the oil level then u may use 10w40 but dont go over this grade. Brands i would recommend are total 9000 5w30 and zic x7 10w40.

You have heard it right that 20w50 is too thick engine oil for your car and it may damage your engine sooner than later.

I suggest you switch to 10w30 and keep a close look at the Engine oil level with the dipstick and if it's fine, then stick to that one, because there is very little change in terms of specifications in 10w30 and 5w30 grade Engine oils. As the previous owner was using a really thick oil (20w50), it is NOT RECOMMENDED at this stage to switch to 5w30 in my opinion.

The rest is your choice.
