Which engine oil should i use for mercedes c180 original engine 1800c

i sold my c180 2006 last yr.. 60k km driven .. i used 10w40 havoline for 2 yrs without any issues

I bought this 1996 c180 last month and changed its engine oil using zic 20-50 synthetic oil but recently a friend recommended shell 20-50 oil

consult ur manual ... if it says 20w50 then put 20w50 also look for grade whether its SL, SM or SN grade .. shell and zic r different by grade only .. u can put newer grade in older car but its better not to .. the higher the alphabet the newer the technology .. lastly be sure that zic is genuine as lots of fraud in it .. look for clock underneath the can if it matches year of manufacture
