i have corolla 1982 SE 1.3 , with 4k engine and 4 forward gear box..i want suggestions from you that I can change the gear box with 5 forward gears or not..what are the drawbacks if i replace it..some one told me that your initial pick will reduced due to 5 forward gear box...

The japanese domestic SE edition corollas with the 4K-U engines came with 5 spd boxes, check the ID plate on the car - it should say K50 on it.
and it seriously helps with fuel economy at high speeds.
hmmmm.. OK it helps in fuel economy but what's about its initial pick??
its the same - no difference in first gear torque (pickup) - the 5th gear is just an overdrive gear.

Mine absolutely fine. Just wanted to have that overdrive effect. Reving in 4th gear above 100 or between 110 fuel mileage affects.
K50 / 51 both are bolt-on 5 speed, am also searching to swap in 1979 KE 30, so far i got price tag of 20,000 so before haggling for price i tested using a drill machine to final drive and it has hum walked away, still searching ...
20,000 is too much, was it not performing ?. I got hold of one from Shershah back in 2016 for 8000 and it didn't work as shaft was not bolt in . Was one fitting problem. Mechanic had to do alteration and fix it. I did give it a try . The pick was increased but after 120,130 the braking was not satisfactory even thought I had discs in front and drum at back but still the handling would have been issue in the long trip. So removed it immediately.
How do you test a gearbox with drill machine? I would love to Know.

over drill machine CHUCK add an extension having socket to fit over transmission shaft bolt., thats all

FInd a dead clutch plate, cut the center splines out, weld an adapter to it - smooth it on a lathe to it can spin without wobble.
spin the input shaft.
hello brother i need suggestion i have 1977 sr5 5speed with 7k engine i recently installed LSD but it cannot go faster the rpm get higer but not going smooth
engine is very powerful but it can go on 80kmh on 3 rpm it has old gear box 5 speed
