Which gear oil to use for honda city

gear oil 75w85 zic , 3 liter

engine oil 5w30 pso carient if engine condition is good.

i use above oils

the gearbox is not winding down fully when you press in the clutch. This situation usually causes a gear clash noise too. It can also be due to very thick oil - Honda use HD 15W40 diesel engine oil in their manual gearboxes. Dont use regular 75w90 or 85w90 in it, It will fight you.

Honda manual gearboxes for quite a while used engine oil in their gearboxes, Preferrably a HD type with extreme pressure additives and low foaming characteristics too - such oil is usually a HD fleet oil like delo gold 15w40.

Old Honda owner manuals literally had this written too. Later on Honda started selling the same oil branded as MTF.

Some other brands use ATF in some of their manual gearboxes - like mercedes benz and GM etc.

its probably reversed, My reasoning is that no one buys a car to become a showpiece at their house, 2013 is 7 years old and 50,000 kms is 2 year usage under normal driving.

anyway - you need regular API GL4, 80w90 which is sold at suzuki dealer for cheap. Or Zic FF API GL4 75w90 from shops. Drain and refill it - and make sure the car is standing level straight when filling and checking gear oil. Meaning Do not do this on ramps or with jack which will cause front of car to raise up.

If you fill with car raised up at front, then the oil level will be low when its straight on ground.

You can buy 3 litres of delo gold and fill it at a workshop, way cheaper than honda mtf

When honda mtf is readily available, whats the need for these fancy brands? If u dont want to wreck the gearbox, drain it and put honda mtf.

Yes today i drained and filled with Honda Geniune MTF . Approx 1.3 to 1.5 litre . Now seems to be working fine . But im worried if previous wrong gear oil may be any damaged to gear box or no ? Sunday evening i filled Amsoil and today after 24 hours i filled Honda MTF . Is anything i need to be worry about or no ?

I still use delo in honda gearboxes and never had one fail. - much much cheaper than honda mtf and works a treat.

I am having same problem of 1st and 2nd gear hard shifting, i drained multiple times and now i am using kixx gl4 75w 85 it seems better than honda oem, but i am still not satisfied with my car gear behaviour.
