Which grade engine oil to use in Honda civic prosmatic vti oriel 7th gen

Hi Fellows,

I have bought Honda Civic Prosmatic VTI Oriel 7th Gen (2006) 4 months ago. The total mileage of the car is 159000 and the engine is in great condition with no oil leakage though it is giving 7 to 8 km per liter with AC on regular petrol.
The last engine oil change was Liqui Moly 6 months ago at 154300 by the previous owner. I don't know which grade he used. Now I am planning to change the oil considering Liqui Moly as the best option. But my question is:

- which grade is suitable for my car according to its mileage, engine and weather conditions in Karachi which is on average 30 to 45 (max) degree celsius.

And anybody have better option than Liqui Moly?

LiquiMoly is a good oil but it's costly and lacks the point of its utility in our daily running average cars. I would suggest get ZIC or CALTEX or DRAGON. You can start off with 10w-40 for now and later on switch to 10w-30 if you dont see any leaks or other problems. As per manual, for D16W9 you can use 20w-50, 10w-40, 10w-30, 5w-30

Apart from cost, are you saying that we can get all the benefits what LiquiMoly offers to our daily running average cars by using other oils such as ZIC. My mechanic also advised me to use ZIC though like the majority of our people he doesn't know about LiquiMoly.

If you can afford then 10w-40 liqui moly it is.
Otherwise Zic A 10w-40 is good if you use original not fake.
Shell 10w-40 is also ok.
Don’t use thin oil like 0w-20, 0w-30 or 5w-20.

What I'm trying to say is that no doubt liqui Molly is a very good product, it's just like paying 5000 for a 2000 jeans! the average road cars don't need extravagant oils. They can b kept at an optimum running level by using normal average oils. If your engine has been taken care of use 10w30 or 5w30, else just pour zic 10w40 n enjoy life

This oil will sieze your engine soon, only go for 10w40. in weather conditions of karachi and most parts of the world. Good Luck!

no need to use liquimoly. It is going to be a sheer waste of money. I am giving you options for your civic:

1. caltex havoline formula 10w30 api sn
2. shell helix hx7 5w30 api sn

both of these are the most widely used oils in the model. They are good enough for 4-5 thousand kms. Be sure to get the genuine ones and use a good quality oil filter such as vic

Almost everything you said is right except for 20w50. Do not use 20w50 in this model. Not recommended by the manufacturer

there is nothing wrong with using thin oils if the engine is in good condition. My civic 2006 is driven almost 155000 kms and I have been using zic 5w20 for quite some time.

I have the service manual with me. the recommended viscosity are,

1. 0w20, 0w30, 0w40
2. 5w30, 5w40
3. 10w30, 10w40
4. 15w40

there is no mention of 20w50
