Which SUV should I buy

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum and also to the 4x4 scene. I want to buy a suv/4x4 car, however, I have a very limited budget and need your advice whether I should go ahead with it or not, and which car should i go ahead with. I have a budget of PKR 1.8M.

This will be my secondary car and i will use it on weekends, however I want to go on road trips on that car and this will be the primary use for it.

In my range i think I can find Pajero, Toyota seems out of budget

So what are your thoughts on this. Your guidance would be appreciated

Ideally don't buy a 30+ years old SUV as it will require alot of time, patience, and money.
In case you really really want to buy one - only buy a Toyota - it will be easier to maintain, more reliable and will have a reasonable resale value.

Old SUV prices on both Pakwheels and Olx are usually overstated.
Don't buy a SUV without pre purchase inspection from a SUV specialist workshop and test drive a few before you finalize your decision.

In this price range you can get a 6/10 Fj40 or Bj40 Toyota Jeep. Model should be around 1982.
It's a good jeep and maintained easily. It is a overwhelming 4x4 with plenty of torque and simple machine.

No bro not in this budget at all. Pajero needs deep pockets. Not a budget friendly suv.

What are your views on the older Kia Sportage 2004 with its engine replaced with a toyota engine?
Is that a good reliable car to buy, any one's experience with it

It will be difficult to source spare parts for older KIA Sportage.

Even if you replace the engine with a Toyota engine there are several compilations like electrical wiring issues, sensor mismatch issues, speedometer mismatch issues, engine mounts alterations and more.

The vehicle will loose it's charm and stability might get affected after too much alterations and it might be unreliable for off-road.

It's better to go for a TOYOTA, and as mentioned by @waqasch1 Bhai, you might require a lot of mantainance before it gets perfect one for you.

In this budget I'd personally try to find an old hilux circa 1992 or the 2000s nissan d22 - both are easy to maintain and mostly trouble free once cared for.
