Which ZIC Engine Oil?

Keeping in view the extreme weather in Pakistan, i don't know why all of u are considering oil with a 30W rating when hot...... The manufacturers of the cars we are using recommend 50W for hot temp....... and if engineers at ZIC recommend ZIC HI FLO for gas vehicles, then how can they be incorrect, i mean the people who are making this stuff don't know about this?

And what should one do after the engine gets weak if he is using synthetic oil? Stick to synthetic?

20W-50 means oil viscosity rating is 20@cold whereas 50@hot/optimum temp. this is what ZIC HIFLO is capable of.

I really dont see any point in it, why ppl dont use less viscous oils in summers. e.g ZIC A (5W-40) semi-synth. except the fact it provides good cold starts though not required in summers, but good thing is that it does not thicken too mcuh as compared to 20W-50. i.e. it offers less resistance to the movement of pistons at high temp@high rev.

btw, always stick to manufacturer's viscosity rating.

lower W number means lower viscousity/weight at -18C
helps ur engine at cold temps
agreed and understood

other number means the wieght/viscousity wont increase more than that number at 100C

a 30 oil will be thinner at 100C than 50 oil

so higher the second number better the heated performance as we need more lubrication at high temp.

now heres the question the site says

Think of it like this: a 10W30 oil is a 10-weight oil that will not thin more than a 30-weight oil when it gets hot.

shouldnt the viscousity decrease with temprature?
but in here 10 is changeing into 30

viscosity is internal resistance to flow. e.g honey is more viscous than water.

multi grade oils means it changes its behaviour when its cold / hot. therefore, they are specified as 20W-50 etc.
The important thing is viscosity index.

In ur example, lets suppose a given oil has viscosity of 10, so it will not become viscous more than 30 @hot (3 times more than @cold temp) at a particular viscosity index. normally its greater than 100.

It is measurement of the specific gravity (relative to water at those temperatures). The oil is 10 time denser than water when cold and it is 50 times denser than water at 100 degrees......for 10W/50

I am using Zic 0w20 in My Honda city 2019 prosmatic. Milage is 60 K now should i switch to 5w30 or stick to it. My weekly drive on motorway is 800 KM
