Now i want to ask my fellow brothers that i have a Mehran 2005 Model 12K KM done, am currently using Shell CNG Oil. i want to shift to ZIC as of its quality. please advice me that which of the obove mentiioned oils should i use as am more concerned about fuel economy.

I will expect replies from senior members like Spectra, Hash, Levin, Robin, Abid etc etc...

for winters.. use

and for summers use

any of the 10W30/the 10W/40

these are fullu synthetic oil... dont shift to mineral oils... keep using them...

the API rating of these oil is i guess SM so that makes them the latest.... but this on not of any significance to you... as the engine you are running is an older one... so u can just forget about the API rating...
SL..or SM does not matters for u

minex is right about summer and winter diference.
But once u have started using synthetic oil of any kind, u havwe to keep on using it, because it does not mix up with any other mineral based oil. Keep this in mind before shifting to a synthetic oil.
Also u think mehran deserve such expensive oils. throw in Havoline as Robin suggested or ZIC HIFLO and drain it at 3000-3500 Kms. Its the best for this car.
Synthetic oils are for performance engines, however if u rate mehran as same, do go ahead with the expensive option.

spectra is damn rite about the use of expensive oils...
but if u want to treat your car.... you wont find these oils that expensive.... 600 rs for 3 liters i guess

Bhai as i told earlier in my first post that i want to achieve economy and not using it for racing kinda stuff..aur yar ap ke car say kuch affiation hotee hay, so khurcha karnay main kohi harj nahin hay chahay wo "Khuta Gari" he kyon na ho...
and a query for u also... as am currently using mineral oil, so whats the best way to drain all of that before shifting to synthetic, aur kya synthetic oil say kohi farq be parta hay economy per ya nahin.??

bhai with this mileage of 12K its not a problem to shift to synthetic.
Also 5W-30 and 10W-40, SL, SM etc. are API (American Petroleum Institute) service ratings, which are used globaly as standards for comparing viscosity, drain intervals and other characteristics of a lubricant.
e.g. 10W-40 is viscosity and cold and optimum heated temperature. 10 for clod 40 for hot.
SM is the highest drain iterval oil

CNG with old engine, i think u should go for ZIC hiflo, i have been using this from last 4 or 5 years estimatedly.

the difference is in the vescosity at given temperatures...

These grades of oil are based on viscosity standards set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Oil grades are based on a viscosity range at a standard temperature; the higher the viscosity, the higher the SAE grade number. These numbers, which range from 0 to 50 or higher, are referred to as the "weight" of motor oil.

The oil's cold-weather weight is indicated by the letter "W," meaning "winter," as in 10W, which is gauged by the oil's viscosity at 0 °F. The warm-weather weight is based on the viscosity measured at 210 °F e.g in our case 30...or 40 .

0 degree F means -17.7 degrees Centigrade
210F means 98.9 degrees centigrade

i dont know much about cng in cars. all i know is petrol fuel lubricates small nozzels in carburator and keep them clean and cng supply dries out these inlet passages and eventually clogs them, cng requires more trips to mechanics to keep yr car's carburator clean. so more you open your car, more there are chances that some little part may not fit back into its actual seat at time or miss/left loose a screw somewhere causing unwanted trouble.

as far as oil in engine is concerned, i use full synthetic

Sir, I increased my Alto's engine compression from 8.5:1 to 9.5:1, now I suppose I should use a better oil.

I use Blue Shell oil but which ZIC oil would you recommend for it. My car is on Petrol, no CNG and use it only on short trips but drive most of the time at high rpms. So, which ZIC oil and for how much?

no need to go into complications of synthetics for a suzuki. just keep changing the oil on time. Havoline will do, or ZIC A, or shell semi synthetic ........
wont recommend late oil changes on suzuki engine. 2000-2500 km is enough.

i am staying general as you asked a general question..

1. it depends on how many cold startups you do in a day...
2. do u do short runs..
3. how old is your engine..

4. which oil are you using.. the API rating.. i.e SAE 30, SAE 40 or SAE 50..

5. most of all it depends on the oil conditon(check dip stick)... and weather..

you dont use mineral based oil for more than 2000 kms.. in any case i guess....they dont hav flexibility of serving you in different conditions...

if your car is not a load bearng car like Shehzore or anything.. and is a passenger car...i would recomment you to shift to semi synthetic... but for that... you should post in the details of your vehicle...

I was talking about typical city driving. I am using 20W-50 oil (will change that soon). I have found on the internet that the good oils should be changed before 5000Kms. Thanks for response.
