Whistling sound from engine bay of Honda City 2018

There is a whistling sound being heard from Honda City 2018. It is driven 53,000 KMs in total. The sound specially comes up when driven more than 15-20 KMs and disappears if we start the car next day after parking it for some time.

Some say that the noise is coming from belt adjuster/tensioner while others are saying that it must be coming from belt itself.

Please help in diagnosis.

to me it seems like Bearing noise of alternator or adjuster pully (if it has).

I will go with @pwuser166331039855 diagnosis. It is a bearing noise. I am more inclined to point my finger to the alternator.

If you are in doubt spray some water on the belt when the sound is coming. If sound disappears, it is from the belt. But I doubt it will disappear after water spray.

I applied water on belt; however, the sound did not go away. Also, I got the bearing of belt adjuster replaced also as it was also making noise as per mechanic.

The noise still comes up when the car is driven for more than 20 KMs or so. Should I change the bearing of alternator now?

Before you do that. Do one more experiment. Run the car for the 20 km and when the noise comes, remove the belt that runs the alternator. Run the engine to see if the sound goes away. If it does, for sure it is the alternator.

Or he can just put the car on jack stands, put it in gear, and use a stethoscope.

yes he could do that but he is saying the sounds comes after 15-20 km of driving. That takes 30 min or so in top gear. Rather boring to sit there in the car with foot on gas pedal to keep it going for half hour or so. Better to go about shopping and so on.

So, it was a sound from alternator which I got repaired. there was some loose wiring inside it causing the sound. However, it was short lived. the car ran smooth for next 1000-1500 KMs and now the sound comes again after a 20-25 KMs drive but goes away when I give accelerator.
