Whistling sound from engine bay

Dear Fellows
The car is Honda City, MT-2012 and 80K driven. Miantained by Honda dealership and never has been went to any local mechanic.
I am hearing a strange sound from engine bay for past 2/3 weeks. It looks like a whistle is blowing in engine bay. However, as soon as I place my foot over clutch pedal, the sound vanishes. Taking the foot away from pedal, the sound comes back. I don't need to press the pedal really hard, just by resting the foot over pedal makes the whistle sound vanish. can anyone suggest why I'm hearing this sound and would I get it solved.

there is this thing with throttle body which local mechanics term as auto choke, get that cleaned.

may be the trottle body has been choked, but i have never felt any changes in RPM during idle or while driving. secondly, if throttle body has been choked, why the sound disappears as soon as I place my foot over the clutch. I could not understand it

na buddy, it is not happening because your throttle body is choked. there is a part which is locally known as "auto choke" it makes a noise when not cleaned for a long period of time. we usually get throttle body serviced and leave that part.

i think its called, throttle position sensor. i got that cleaned with petrol, and it stopped making that whistling sound.

Have u changed manual transmission fluid????......the symptoms u r showing are of input shaft bearing noise of gearbox......but seeing the mileage and model of car it is most probably some vacuum leak....anyhow if u haven't changed gearbox oil then u should change it now

I had the same problem with my fathers' 2012 MT city.
It had only clocked 35000 km when this problem appeared.
Apparently it is caused due to the absence of a splash tray beneath the engine bay which introduces some dirt or debris into a small bearing of transmission..This might sound absurd and illogical but a couple of mechanics told me this.As far as its trouble shooting is concerned then WD40 temporarily solves the problem but the sound comes back within 2 hours of driving the car..Took my car to "Honda Gateway Lahore" where mechanics suggested that it could cost me anywhere between 4000 to 35000 rs to have some bearing part or a relatively large part of the transmission replaced..well even this might sound silly but I was told this..anyways they seemed to agree with the dirt and debris theory and ended up applying a hefty amount of grease at a certain part in the engine bay which temporarily solved the problem but the sound reappeared after 3 months..I havent bothered about it since..so far my dads' car has clocked 92000 km and is still happily whistling till the clutch is pressed...lets hope there can be a better solution to this issue before it costs a hefty amount to have it fixed.
The car was bought brand new by us from city sales lahore in May 2012.

Your argument seems plausible. I went to AMX Honda Islamabad. They technician over there applied fluid (oil, i don't know which one. it was in a pray bottle) to clutch the linings and the sound has gone. I would update if the sounds comes back or not.

If the colour of bottle was blue and yellow with a red plastic cap and spray nozzle then it is WD40.

I do not remember exactly, but It was close to the color combination as you described in your post

Update from my side.The sound has disappeared from the engine bay.Drove that car yesterday and was pleasently surprised as the old faithful was nowhere to be heard

Update. The sound has disappeared from the engine bay. have been driving the car for more than 5 days and sound is no where to be heard.
