Dear Pakwheelers, need your input and help on addressing this issue.
As an owner of Paksuzuki WagonR, it is increasingly difficult to get my car serviced. Since the model year is 2015, issues are starting to pop up, but I am very surprised that getting parts is so difficult, even when this is one of my most successful production car which is currently also in production.
- I prefer going to Paksuzuki outlet since I am a working professional and do not find it very easy to search for reliable road mechanics and figure out each different specialization, therefore, I go to PakSuzuki.
- Despite working on their own terms, it is shameful that Paksuzuki does not stock production model spare parts. I have had a lot of difficulty sourcing parts like horn, combination switch, clutch/pressure plate, and even light bulbs.
- I then decided to source parts from Saddar and Waterpump in Karachi, where I live. Now the thing I have realized is that there is no fixed price concept; same thing is sold for 1000 rupees which the next shop sells for 2000 rupees. Very difficult, again, for a working professional to go separately to market and sort this out. Apart from that, same excuses are present that parts are not available in market.
- Then there is the quality of parts issue. I bought new balance rod bushes from local market specifying that I need high quality, but they broke down in 1 week. New parts from market are worst than 10 year old kabuli alternatives.
- Then there is selective work issue. I have noticed this that road mechanics have too much work, and they turn away time taking work such as clutch/pressure plate work and gasket replacement. In Paksuzuki, I have noticed this with IG motors that if you go with a long task, they will quote outrageously high labour charges (up to 50K) and 2-3 working days time to turn you away (my guess is that they are on salary and don't want to do more than necessary).
Since I have always kept Suzuki vehicles and am tired of their unprofessional service and quality standards, I wanted to ask fellow Pakwheelers if they have had the same problems with Honda,Toyota, and KIA as well. As my father is aging, I want a car for him that firstly does not break down that often, but even affter 5-7 years, I can be assured that service and repair can be available, since new cars will be a luxury only the ultra rich can afford, and I want that surity. I know import bans make it difficult for Paksuzuki and their likes to stock parts, but the headache is growing since Karachi's roads ensure cards break down very soon.
Help is appreciated.
