Why is mehran so popular in pakistan?

2. Cost/availability of spare parts
3. Cost/availability of labour for maintenance and repairs
4. High resale, low depriciation.

Lets face it, the majority (I am not saying "all") of people in Pakistan never consider:

• Quality
• Comfort
• Design (i.e. aerodynamic and not just eye catching)
• R&D backing of a car / model

well mehran is popular as it is in the market for 20 years. Car has cheap spares maintanance is not an issue and resale is easy as compared to other cars. Even Fiat Uno 2001 is cheaper then mehran 2001 which had original price of 550k(estimate) compared to mehran of 300k

its cheap, easy to maintain, good resale, cheaper spare parts, a car which is in market for a long long time.

Exactly, the cheapest to own, the cheapest to maintain and the best re-sale. It is like having a savings certificate. In Pakistan, no matter how bad the Mehran is, no other car can beat it in this respect.

Revo on the other hand out performs Mehran in every aspect but it lacks reliablility, market share and resale. And we have to give Revo some time to grow. It is much better a car than Mehran but to beat Mehran's 20 year old reputation it will have to be flawless in the future. Because still the majority of Pakistanis prefer Mehran over Revo.

you know cars like mehran are so popular becoz we pakistanis dont consider quality shape safty.....we just see its resale value ....and are ready to buy this 20 year old trash.

Mehran is absolute piece of junk when it comes to safty.............i think if you crash test it at the standerd crash speeds you will find its engine on the rear seat!

yaar i dont get why every body against mehran... i know safety reasons bla bla bla...

lekin jabsay main pakwheels per hun and reading all the posts.. etc.. there arnt much posts related to mehran crashes.. or lost of lives coz of mehran... 1 or 2 mehrans i saw... lekin corolla, famous civic crash, cygnus, i just saw bentley, in the forums crashed.... they r safe too lekin they crash aswell.... yeh koi baat nahi hui kay mehran main kuch nahi hai.. mehran is a car for the people who cant buy cars with awesome accessories ..they just buy it coz it wont give them much trouble . and its fine with there every day use and on roads of pakistan mehran is not bad where each incoming car is like coming ur way... so ager laggay bhi tou theek hojaati hai sastay main... and life ka kia hai.. woh tou paidal chaltay bhi jaa sakti hai..bachaanay waali ALLAH ki zaat hai

dangerous mouse is dangerous but right.
janab mehran is good economical only car. nothing in it extra. no comform, no option, no luxury and above all no safety.
it didnt change its model. they upgrade what.. just a shit add to it. side mirror, neck rest, change shape of bonnet, dashboard and dats all.
if a car comes with even lower price than it and it stays for some years that will be even more popluar than mehran coz of its price, regardless wht they are giving.
the civics and corolla made in pakistan are not more than these mehrans, simply these companies save pennies on different things and charge you for full :s
go for any imported car and you will amazed by the features in it even a 20 years old imported car of good brand is far more better than these made in pakistan 2006 models.
i know i am jazbaati at the moment. but we waste our earned money in garbage :s

Its not true that Alto 800/Mehran hasnt got updated features since 1988 cos the Alto 1000 is the next genertaion of old Alto 800. But due to popularity & economy the manufacturer are producing it yet to make their revenue Its just like that if PAk Suzuki Starts producing Khyber & Cultus parallel then 80 percent of market share of cultus will be again captured by Khyber cos Khyber is mush economical than Cultus in terms of after sales services/parts availability & economy.
Why should we blaim the Car ? Bhai jee "Chalti ka naam Garee"
As far as safety, Quality & shape is concern the person who have money in his pocket to Buy 7 series BMW/Merc/Jaguar/Rolcroyce etc he will definately say that Corolla/Civic/Lancer/Accord/Galant etc are unsafe & poor quality cars. So the choices depends on budget too.

I totally agree .....look at the suzuki cars in japan...you'll be amazed with all the safty features. All those safty features are non existent in small cars in pakistan.

Now what are we.....some lowlifes then the japanese that they dont bring those features to pakistan. I think they simply want to make BIG profits.

Can anybody tell me what would be the mileage of Mehran standard (without A/C) new on Petrol as well as on CNG?
