Why no Hondas in Cabs/Rent-a-cars?

Radio Cabs are very common and popular these days, owing to the high quality of service, good vehicles, and fair rents.

These companies are using almost every model of latest sedans, including Corolla, Liana, Lancer, Nissan, Chevrolet...they even have Lancer 1.6 GLX automatic (Star Cab).

Why is there no Honda City or Civic amongst their fleets?

1. High maintenance costs?
2. Not suited for heavy traffic/poor road conditions?
3. Durability?
4. Other reasons...??

honda is not a robust car and its maitenance is expensive.... and it does not have a good resale valus

people running cab companies go for cars that are robust....cheap and easy to maintain and and have a high salvage value....

honda is used by rent-a-car companies though....

Hondas actually cant survive rough handling. Also, Toyotas and foreign cars seem to attract customers more.

The cars used by Radio Cabs are running 24 hours round the clock....a driver is usually on 24 hours duty, at the end of his shift he cleans it up and hands it over to the next driver....this is a really rigorous test for a vehicle, don't you think?

What do you think will happen to a City in such conditions?

In Madras, Citys are used by hotels to carry customers from the airport. Most fleet operators prefer Ford(India) iKon and Hyundai(India) Accent cars as they are more durable and easy/cheap to service/maintain. Corollas are also a fav of the taxi fleets. Not Citys.

radio cab had ordered several honda city,s
but when honda came to know dat dez ill be used as cabs dey cancelled da order n gave da money bak.

you seems to be right as honda is concidered to be an upper class car but why wont they sell it to then as honda is already facing loss due to very low sale of civic and city as well ??

then wat about the low resale and high maintenance of lancer??
atleast honda has better resale and cheaper maintenance as compared to lancer..

therefore there may be any other reason..

Honda "not allowing" cab companies to use their cars is such BS. Maybe they wont give fleet discounts. Maybe they wont give fleet maintence. Maybe they're too expensive to repair. But it's NOT because Honda wont allow it.

The simple reason comes down to cost. Lancers, Corollas, Lianas are all chosen because they are CHEAPER to fix, fuel, buy.

Most of the Hondas in UK are cabs because of their reliability and good space and definately value for money... buying a honda accord here mostly does mean that its going to be used as a taxi so depends what country it is and whats the trend

most in mini cabs are honda specially the diesel 2.2 but yup its is out done by the avensis which is the king all goes down to fuel spare parts and toyota is a donkey vechicle will go on and on honda is too be used with care even though they are also reliable i personaly have used civic and city in my renta car company for a while now!

How can they stop anyone? Once you've sold a vehicle, its upto the user what he likes to do with it..

We're talking about Pakistan here....UK has much better road conditions.

Lancer parts are not that expensive...they're cheaper than Liana.
