ppl in khi 1996 prado like as if it is mehran they are loads of it in khi roads.....so i wanna ask that ppl can get a prado for i think 17 lakh and that tz model in 19 to 20 lakh and in the same price like 17 lakh u can get a surf 1996 ..... but why ppl are buying prado instead of surf.... i personally like surf in terms of shape and interior....i dont know abt the engine specs of prado and surf... so some one plz tell why they buying prado instead of surf... or some one who own this car can tell better....

Prado seats more...its has a somewhat forgiving ride, unlike Surf..which has a very truck like( harsh) ride, well...it is a truck. Surf however , looks much better than the 96-97 or the newer style Prado.
Both are great vehicles and do what they are builtto do really well!

In many cases preference to Parado is bcos of status symbol. 2ndly when new buyers observe the situation before buying vehicle, they concentrate on what other people are buying. It makes their mind to think that if more people R buying one particular brand then its performance is also good. But People here also buy some particular brand becos of its re-sale value. I m not saying for every body, people do buy here for their own preference and their own choice of particular brand such as me.
If we compare Pardo models from 1995 to 1999 or 2000 with Surf, the engine and suspension for both SUVs are the same. Body and the interior are different. Surf to me is more Sporty SUV and its drive is more pleasure drive than to Parado. Off course Parado is 7 seater and in Surf U hv more cargo space.
Performance wise I personally prefer Surf. It’s a Great SUV and Off-roader.
I hv personnaly experienced the both and hv decided to keep my Surf.
Racerf1 (Ashfaq Bahi also advised me to keep ma Surf).
Prado is an SUV, Surf is a truck with a rear cabin. Theres a difference obviously.
Having a Cargo space doesn't make an SUV a Truck.
Hilux SSR is consediered as Truck not the Hilux Surf.

FYI- I'm referring to the 95 Surf. Not the 2003 onwards one. I am aware of the different chasis Surf has been built on. The 1995 and ealier models are NOT suvs where as the Prados that are being compared with (at the same generation period) are indeed SUVs.
Itz due to the Pick up version (SSR-X) that ppl in Pak associate it with being a pickup.
In the America(s), Toyota 4runner a.k.a. Surf is the best selling mid size SUV!

Forerunner is newer than the surf we're talking about here. Forerunner was completely redesigned and has a different chasis.
Hilux Surf since their birth (YOP) 1984 till present are in mid SUV category.
U need to understand or get some info about Hilux SSR-X Truck and Hilux Surf as SUV.
I have more than 200 4Runners 1999 to 2002 model here for our official use, same chassis and mechanical specifications as Surf. 4Runner is American assembled/Manufactured and Surf is JDM.
Surf is better than a Prado anyday...Much more cooler and sporty looking and both have the same engines too till 96.
Surf '96-'01 and Prado in the same years share the same chasis, only the body and suspension are different - the Surf IS an SUV, I don't see anyone calling the Platz a hatchback because it is a larger version of the Vitz!
4Runner and Surf are the SAME thing (whether '89 or '99 model) - just like Yaris/Vitz, Altezza/IS 300, etc - different names for different target markets courtesy of Toyota Corp.
