Why Thermostat valve is crucial

I have a cultus 2009 EFI. During the summer of 2019, its thermostat valve got choked. The mechanic removed it but didnt replace. I tried convicing him to put the new valve but he didnt. The summer went okay. Temperature guage would never go to its half position. Came winters, and the car started performing badly. More fuel consumption, rough idling and acceleration and lately the car started emiting blue smoke. Also heater didnt work at all. So I went to another mechanic and got the T-vavle installed. The engine became smoother at once. Fuel economy improved at once and idling and acceleration became very smooth. And the blue smoke vanished.

this is what our mechanics never understand and they do only what they have been transferred from their old school ustaad.

good keep the things installed as the engineers have made. please use coolant to avoid rust issues.

The Engine needs " Warmed up operating temperatures" at which the Piston Rings expand to give designed compression and to maintain Oil Film in the liner. Without Thermostat the Piston rings remain cold contracted which eventually starts premature wear along with initial symptoms of what mentioned above. So never ever listen to these moron " USTAADs ". T Valve has a purpose....

some years back i went to Jamshed road for my car CITY radiator service that guy after serviced tell me to take out that thermostat valve - for let the engine cool. i did what he said. after that i went to my mechanic for car tuning and i informed him about that removal, he instantly informed me go back and bring that valve - are Honda japan are mad people who put valve in car. i went there and bring back the valve. then i got to understand why it was needed.

I am not lucky on that score. Whenever I fill the cooling system with coolant, a leak develops. Lately running the car on water as coolant. Will replace it soon to avoid rust issue.

Dear pakwheeler, use only caltex extended life coolant, if you have car with alominum head or block i.e like cultus.

Thermostat valve and automatic radiator fan is a must for car to work properly. People often suggest that in our environment where temperatures are on a high side its not necessary to have them installed which is totally wrong. If you car is overheating its important to find the real problem and it should be cured instead removing thermostat valve and making radiator fan direct with ignition switch.
Caltex concentrated coolant is a good coolant which can be mixed with distilled/deionized water available in market, dont use tap water in mixing with coolant

Bhai the coolant is not the culprit for leakeage. it is the color that is telling that ur system has a leak which is unidentifiable using water. So if u see a leak from where coolant is getting out treat is and make it a closed system so that no water escapes.

Also ensure that the radiator fan is on auto setting.

T valve keeps engine temp. at optimum level-which increases engine life & mielage as well. Also check if hose pipes have cracks then change all of them.
