AOA, i have margalla 95, i recently got fixed tappets, but still when i push accelerator strange sound come from engine just like sound of tappets. when i drive faster, the sound gets louder. what is it, any advice?
did you set the tappets to factory specs or ustaad specs?
yes the mechanic fixed it, some body told me that its due to any issue with head section of engine, and head will need to be opened up and cylinder etc. will need to be fixed etc.....
reset to factory specification and retest, ustaad recommendation usually is very loose and will be noisy.
If you still have noise then remove the rocker shafts and arms and measure them with mircometer and engineer calipers.
yeah i can hear the tikkitiy tikkity sound at high gear when the car is at low rpm and constant speed, it also sounds like a diesel engine idling abit fast if you accelerate slowly in third gear.
i hear the tappet noise in all old khybers and margallas, i used to think it was normal until i got more involved
so what was the solution
solution is to get them adjusted to factory setting.
valve clearance (inlet)= 0.23-0.27hotvalve clearance (exhaust)= 0.26-0.30hot
values are in mm. i copied this from a manual.also set your timing according to factory spec

btw @syncview, is this a range that is suitable or the 0.27 and 0.30 values are only if adjusting a hot engine?

should i get these settings done from a ustaad/mistry or from a suzuki centre, what do u guys recommend
