Will Choosing An Alto Be A Wise Decision?

Salam bhai log,

Logged in after almost a year. So I am in a dilemma of which car to get. Here's the history of cars I have kept but then at that time I used to travel a lot but now it is restricted to daily drive of barely 1-2 KM (pick and drop my kids from and to school). And some random trips to relatives etc and a bit of outing.

I have kept:
Mehran
Old Cultus
Prius G 1.8
Toyota Passo Sporty
Toyota Passo 2007 (Current ride)

My current Passo was not a very good buy and hence I am getting into troubles. Not very frequent but every now and then I get into issues. The engine is a bit weak and AC has it's problems too. My friend suggested me to get a new Alto VXR as being new it will be trouble free and later on if I want to sell it may not depreciate much. I can blame my current ride may be for one of the reasons I don't travel much too.

I understand degrading from a 1000CC may not be wise but then I don't actually drive a lot so I may not feel the difference much. All I need is a decent AC and a trouble free car. Also is VXL really an upgrade over VXR? I mean how reliable is AGS in the long-term. I have heard these new cars launched by Suzuki has some parts not available locally but only at dealership where they charge an enormous amount of money. One example is local Wagon R's throttle kit which costs around 70-90K.

I’m using AGS alto since jul 19. Alhamdulliah no issues till now.. if you are looking for automatic car/ ladies driving than go for vxl. If not than go for VXR.. your friend is right. Inshaa Allah you’ll have peace of mind for 4-5 years

Nice to hear a positive review. How many KMs have you driven brother so far? I am fine with either one really. Given my goal is to get the best fuel economy I can get I am inclined towards manual but then I have been using automatic for so many years now so it has become a habit too.

Have an Alto vxl since 2019. Go for it eyes closed...

Completed almost 50,000/- KM alhamdulliah. Using liqui moly 5w30 average 21.3 in winters and around 19 in summers.

Yes, you can go for Alto.
I am using Alto AGS since last year and the car has covered 10,000 KMs.
Not a single problem till now, alhamdullilah
My car is giving 22-23 kmpl with ac, I mostly travel on GT road.

Just for general information, new fuel lines changed by Suzuki free of cost even though it was ok when my vehicle went for 15k checking and oil change. As per Suzuki there is a complaint of leaking fuel line so they are changing it.

Not the right choice for this engine. A lot of debate on PW. Search and you will find it. 10 20 is recommended. I switched to 5 30 after the 2nd oil change

I don't have any complaints with 10W40. Car is giving good mileage. Pick of the car is great.
Oil is original as it is poured in by Pak Suzuki authorized dealerships. Warranty is maintained.
I believe these small daily runners should be kept on simple but original oils with strict drain intervals and genuine oil and air filters.

Yes the fuel average is phenomenal. But this is a very tiny car and fragile too. Better look for a WagonR if your drive isn't too much.

Since that is a 1000cc much more power full and roomier.

Coming from Passo, first thing u will notice is the engine sound which is v prominent.

Drive is a bit shaky but mostly in control, i guess thats because if rickshaw tyres holding 35 psi of air pressure.

Spund insulation is not very effective in terms of road noise.

Its same for vx/vxr/vxl

Its a purpose built car, being fuel efficient.

My kids got into back seat and they complained that there no place to hold on too, its true no handle to hold at back, not on the door cars, anyways kids r kids. Now they will have to kept the seatbelt on all the time

Very wise decision. I have alto vxr and wagon r vxl Alhamdulillah. If anyone asks me for the suggestion in buying alto or wagonr, I would always suggest alto. Yes it doesnt have that good of build quality as WR but it has better drive, better road grip, better fuel economy, much better in city traffic conditions, an excellent AC in peak summers. I have obtained upto 24kmpl in city, using 0w20 engine oil in bth of my cars

finally someone said that. had same compliant from my kids too, they were all over the place if not wearing seat belts, may be because of straight design back seat and small size of the seat.

otherwise, I have driven VXR approx. 15000 kms, no issue what so ever, engine will feel more powerful than passo, I guarantee that. even AC will feel like an upgrade. car is fairly comfortable too. on the bad side, car does not contain enough sound deadening as compared to jap cars, engine noise is there but you will get use to it, it is advisable to have the tires changes to a better profile, some are using cultus rims and tire size and the results are phenomenal. i love the shape too but that is everybody's own preference. no spare tire but even on generals nothing bad happened in 15k kms till yet. Finally, the fuel average is out of this world

JazakALLAH for all your valuable suggestions. VXL booking band hai VXR open hai. I will most probably then go for VXR. As for the Passo vs Alto comparison, I do have an idea of the issues but seriously I hate our local manufacturers for making such unsafe vehicle but then hamare pass unfortunately or ziada options nahi hain brand new main. And when I say this it's because jab body mai hi strength na hoto airbag kia safety dega?

Booked yesterday. PBO taken but the booking number along with TTD will be received in a few days. I hope Suzuki does not mess up and accepts it ASAP as there are rumors the price is about to be beefed up due to dollar.
