The construction package they brought last year is nothing but a disaster. Other then cement and bricks everything is imported. Plots doubled/tripled in price getting further out of reach of the middle class.

Auto imports always become the target when it comes to reducing imports, which is not even in top 5.

Is it worth investing for medium-long term for the sake of dividends only? how much is the risk? Some companies quarterly report show they have paid very good % in dividends.

if you are in Karachi visit NIT office opposite Imtiaz market over sirsyed road (off khalid bin walid road), The staff is quiet helpful. Equally Mezan Bank has also certain saving schemes on deck.
am more inclined towards NIT because:

1. return is variable (means it is not fixed which can be termed as 'SOOD')
2. adjustable in annual tax return

Thanks for your reply. I already have a UBL pension mutual fund (not fixed income) but I was thinking to invest some of my savings in PSX for the sake of dividends. I looked at previous few Quarter reports of couple companies and annual return turns out to be 10-15%. I understand the value of stock itself can go up and down that is why asking for advice here whether it is too risky or not.
Truth is cash savings depreciate on average 10% annually so with dividends that effect can be negated plus if stock price rises then you are further in profit.

Looking at history this company’s been paying regularly and even appreciating in price.

Had a chance last year to invest at 62. Didn’t avail it now Now it’s 78 and with excellent dividends too.

its all the same manjann with different faces, problem is that people in Pakistan have been brainwashed to think that a sitting PM is annointed by God and will use his own coffers to finance.

Ask any random man/woman on the street if they know what treasury means.
