Wind shield washer fluid

Do you use special windshield washer fluid or normal water, and why?

Special washer fluids are of two types
1) anti freeze, used in the areas where temperature drops below 0°C

2) Only distilled water, to avoid scale deposits in system.

If you are in are according to point 1 you have to buy one..

And if according to point 2, then you can use Ac water, or even normal drinking water but not tap water

Can we add some dishwash liquid or shampoo with distilled water?

I use this, though it is premixed, I am diluting it further.
It is provides a streak-free shine.
Keeps the water tubes unclogged.
Removes road grime, bird dropping and bugs very easily if used from sprayer bottle from outside. Avoid useing it on car paint as it may damage. I also have not tried.
During recent rains I found it a little water repellent too.

Bought a case of 6 from Carrefour costing PKR 650ish each about 7 or 8 months ago.

Just use tap water, works fine. I've used cleaner formulas before, leaves white deposits when you have low washer fluid.

u can add a shampoo sachet to soften the water a bit, wont hurt anything but u will have cleaner windscreen, contaminated and hard water clogs up the fine nosel holes, now a days there are mnay to spray the water

Just squirt some hair shampoo or even hand soap liquid into a 1.5L bottle with clean filtered water at the very least. Ideally you should use mineral water with roof afza , ice and few squirts of lemon juice.

Any type of detergent or soap has drying effect. Same can be observed on hands after wasing then with soap they tend to make the skin dry with white flakes specially in winter.

This drying effect on the wiper rubber takes the life out of them and they catch the dryness causing streaks on every wipe, painting the WS with scratches and web marks.

If you dont want your WS faded away quickly with web marks dont use soap or shampoo mixed water. Those using such water can check the damage on WS by LED torch light keeping a dark paper behind the glass.

So just water is fine, because you know water dries away as well.. soap will atleast lubricate the windshield enough for the wiper to have a gliding surface, besides shampoo has silicone and other moisturizers in it which not only hydrate the rubber but it will seal it to prevent oil loss.

Some level of degradation on the rubber is still normal as it is exposed to the elements most of the time, best way to ensure longevity of your entire vehicle is to bubble wrap it and keep it in a cool, dry, dark place like a indoor garage and whenever you want to go somewhere just hire an uber.
