hey fellow trekkers..
i have a plan for winter survival expedition to Makra Top..
but there is no snow still in Kaghan Valley.....
I am waiting for snow please pray that snow falls quickly so that i can go to winter survival .........

hey, r u really serious and is it really possible to approach Makra Top in severe cold weather? is shogran and paye open in Jan & Feb? :o

yes with special equipment like snow skis etc u can reach the top. i went to siri paye in winters but did not attempt makra coz i didnt have this equipment. plz make special arrangements for this trek. is not going to be easy.

yes it shogran is open in jan main road is open to kaghan valley.

yes asif bro we are having almost all equipments with us which are to be required in the trek.
only waiting for snow.

u probably already know this but when it snows ul lhave to trek from kiwai to shogran as well. that road is also blocked in snow so reach in day time so that ucan atleast reach siri the same day u start from kiwai

finally snow have fallen in kaghan valley.
i hav resource there he tell me that snow is falling from 4 p.m
yes i know about that..
when u guys visited shogran last year my freind was also with u guys
he told me all this that u had to trek from kiwai to shogran
as there was heavy snow.

just a suggestion is that abhi aur baraf parh lenay do. its just first snow that has fallen. mayb mza na ho abhe. let it be a ful carpet of snow. if u can wait ofcorc.

actually leaves ka masla hai kafi logon ka.
thats why abe ja rahay hain
mera ek dost kiwai mein rehta hai us say bat huwi hai mere he is saying kay paye pay taqreeban 2 feet kay qareeb barf per chuki hai....
and snow expected hai 6 7 and 8 ko kaghan valley mein

thanks.. and we are also planning a 3 to 4 days trip in last week of Jan towards Balakot & Kaghan valley but dont have any plan for hardcore trekking in snow so do u have any suggestion to how we should plan these days.. actually i dont have any idea how far we can go during this winter season and what would be hotels situaiton? we will use private transport..

Please do share some more details on the route, distances and what means of transport can be used until which points and so on. I am very passionate about such survival treks but I don't know many of the spots and how to get there as yet.

its no problem if u dont want any hardcore trekking
u can do trek till shogran
shogran is very beautiful in winters
there are two hotels in shogran which remian open whole year
1. Afaq hotel
2. Pine park hotel
you can stay there.

well i dont know about the exact distance
from balakot we will hire a wagon or hiace till Kiwai
from kiwai we will do trekking
as do u snow there is almost 2 or 3 feet snow on road to shogran.
from shogran we will try to reach Siri same day then we have camp there..
from siri it require one day trek to Makra top..
but it depends on good weather conditions

As someone already suggested.Let it be more snow.Currently I assume that the snow would be soft,which is very dangerous coz it hides lot of dip holes and other shape edged rocks under it.and when/if u step on such an area u either bend ur foot or worse break ur bone.

actually we have the problems of leaves after these dates.
i have a resource in kiwai he told me yesterday that 5 to 8 feet snow already fell at paye...
and we have almost all equipments which are required for winter survival.
