This cars top speed is over 211mph (340kph)…and it isn’t from some lame Hollywood movie or pop comic book. This is the real deal.

The owner of this car has built something that at first glance looks super clean but doesn’t make you feel like its going to obliterate you. Sure the 2JZ is a great motor and the JZ80 Supra is rapidly turning into a classic but it’s difficult to find the truly epic builds out and about in Tokyo. Most of the time the only way to spot them is when they stop for a coffee between max speed runs. Any other time and it is virtually impossible to catch them.

Thankfully, I have some contacts that can assist, and I spent some time last night with the man who built this Supra, a car that packs a mighty 750hp punch that will put paid to almost any attempt to keep up.

The 2JZ has received extensive modifications and has been bored and stroked to 3.1 liters with both turbos jettisoned to accommodate the mammoth Greddy T88-34D snail. Lag is imminent with the turbo starting to really spool from 4000rpm onward, and from there delivering sledgehammer thrust all the way to the raised 8000rpm redline. Peak power is achieved at just over 7500rpm. Engine management is taken care of by an HKS Fcon V Pro.

Behind the engine sits a stock JZ80 gearbox housing a triple plate clutch made by ORC. Supra drivetrains are Supra tough and so until the ‘mission decides to let go, plans for a Getrag dogbox are being put on hold.

Stopping this speed behemoth are a total of 24 Brembo pistons – 8 pot calipers for the front, 4 pot for the rear. The slotted discs are just as impressive, measuring 380mm / 355mm respectively. Needless to say, this is a huge benefit to any driver looking to quickly stop from 190mph ( 300kph ) on a weekly basis.

This car is so neat – packaging all that firepower in a total sleeper of an exterior with “white on rice” Rays 18inch TE-37’s completing the look. The most interesting parts externally were the front bar and rear spoiler. Everything else was very understated. The front bar itself is from none other than Manabu Orido’s old Super GT Supra – a great “bar” story if ever there was one. Ahem…The wing? A rare TRD item, sitting more angular than most other wings, providing much needed down force when it counts – which is often.

Aside from these parts, the pearl white paint and the Varis carbon fiber bonnet, there is little else to give clue as to what lies beneath the skin. That is the greatest asset this car has. Should a persons ego get the better of them, they’ll quickly find themselves being utterly humbled as has so often been the case for others apparently.

The owner is out in this car regularly, working hard during the week and driving even harder on weekends.
