Exploiting her? In what way, might one ask?
"Exploiting" is a big word.
I'm a banker and I've quite a few women colleagues in my workplace. Do you think they're there just to use their 'glamor' and 'feminine charms' on men to attract business? All our rotten minds can think of is 'sexualization' when we see a woman in a workplace. Did it ever occur to you that they might be there to make a living, to make ends meet, to raise their children or support their financially struggling families; just like us?
I personally find them hardworking, well focused and precise about their work. Just tell them to do something once and you better believe it will be done, in time! The same can't be said about most of my male colleagues.
The problem is the 'mentality' of most men who see women as nothing but an 'object'. And since we consider them mere objects, we treat them as our 'properties'. A property that comes with certain liabilities; such as dowry, for example.
Islam gave rights to women over 14 centuries ago. And yet here we are, in 2018, with the same perspective towards women which ancient; pre-Islamic Arab Community used to possess. What a shame!
It's unfortunate that a government initiative to provide women with a mean of transportation is a 'religious crime' in the eyes of many of us. This conservative mindset of us is in dire need of a change.
We need to change the perspective of men towards women.
If some woman talks with us with a smile on her face, we immediately believe she's flirting with us. Heck, even if someone stare at us for a moment we think she's in love... We forget that she's someone's daughter, someone's sister, someone's wife and someone's mother and that she might be talking to us just to be nice and social. But no, we don't care to go that far.
Now, it's sort of a 'taboo' topic for many, but I think we have to discuss and talk about it because clearly; we've a LOT to learn...
