WOW China signed deal today to manufacture car in Pakistan

Just some food for thoughts;

1) Japanese cars manufacture here are craps. But import Japanese cars are good.
So whose fault was it that cars manufacture here are craps?

2) Import Chinese cars are better than local manufacture japanese cars but still no sales due to low resale. If Chinese cars are manufacture here are going to be lower quality than local Japanese manufacture cars, totally no resale value. Who will buy?

Good news. But we pay any attention to their cars previously. Hopefully this time, Pakistani people will change their mind and go for Chinese good interiors as well as power features in small cars. At least Suzuki must take lessons form them and must give stop giving potohar engine in ALTO and power stuff.

The perception these days about Chinese cars is the same as it was for Japanese cars in the 1960s. Given time, Chinese automobile industry is sure to make a name for itself, and it is indeed good news that Pakistan is getting a Chinese auto facility so early on. Considering the resources that China is currently allocating for developing its industry are far beyond what others can or will do, the Pakistani consumer is sure to benefit from this addition. And the reasons for Chinese and Korean cars having not really done well so far here is that they were not supported by a full fledged sales, service and spares network, which China is sure to develop along with its manufacturing facility.

Indeed a welcome happening, if Toyota Indus, Honda Atlas & Pak Suzuki let it happen smoothly.
Most Pakistanis think of SUZUKI and TOYOTA as the only car makers in the world so here the chinese cars willl only sell if they have TOYOTA or SUZUKI logo on them. In order to overcome this hindrance these cars will have Toyota & Suzuki like logos as the chinese mobile phones have names and logos similar to the original phones.

Good news. I drive Cherry QQ 08 almost daily. It is on petrol and ride is awesome. Whole car is built very nicely. Agree with rats above. Lets see when local manufacturing starts and let it compare with Cherry QQ.

I have been to China several times. They manufacture excellent cars. However, the best ones are those which are manufactured under license from foreign companies.

Perhaps the most respected normal priced vehicle in China is Volkswagen ... I have experienced its ride .. it is marvelous. However, as pointed out earlier in this thread, Pakistan people follow "bhair chaal" ... i.e. they dont accept new things, whether they are good or otherwise.

one thing people most commonly misunderstand:

there is one hell of a difference , in importing a chinese car.
and assembling one locally.

[/U]in short , if any company sets up its assembly line here in Pakistan.

we will get cars almost 30% cheaper.

as , on importing CKD ( completely knocked down) kits , you get a discount of 65% in duty.

e.g

if CHERY QQ was costing 5 lacs before , ( without assembling it here)

it includes , the PRICE ( c&f ) 2.5 lac + duty 2.5 lac (100%) roughly

so if CHERYY QQ was assembling this same car here , instead of the 2.5 lac duty ,

CHERY would pay only 82500 duty.

so for the end user , the car would cost ,

250,000 + 82500 = [U]3 ,32 ,500 + (17%GST)

this is how it all works , so if china is opening an assembly line , IT IS REAL GOOD NEWS FOR US.

Sometimes its not easy to let go of old and familiar things.................There is no such thing as pakistani cars..............we are helping Japs rich from our money than why not try chinese this time.......................competition is always good for consumer................I say welcome china.

i am studying from last 3.5 years in china... chinese manufactured cars have so many options and are v.cheap as well..
