Assalam O Alikom everyone! So ive got an 87 Diahatsu Charade. Swapped a 4EFE with manual 5 speed gear box. The problem is that the Rpms are way too high in each gear, can be a faulty tachometer but i also checked it with an aftermarket tachometer and one can tell from the roaring engine noise too. And it tops out at around 145km/h with a screaming engine as it'll explode in a second. What can be the problem?
Short ratio gearbox maybe
What are ur RPMs on 5th at 100kph

you are at 4000 rpm in 5th gear at 100 km/h?
you must have a seriously fast accelerating rocketship!
M not an expert but that seems high....per my exp (with 2015 gli, 09 city, 06 gli, 2017 Ciaz, 08 cultus) the RPMs mostly are around 3k or 3100 at 5th gear
Are you sure your speedometer is working?
Yeah it is, but bcz of the change in wheel size those numbers can be questioned. I use a gps speedometer btw.
It climbs up to 100 just too fast for a 1.3, acceleration is mind blowing, but then these higher rpms and bad fuel economy! On moterways mainly that ear hurting screaming sound isn't comfortable
