That was really impressive.

I think the dc coil resistance is 3.2 ohm for W3001, a little bit more power is always better then less power.

I remember a guy who damaged a 8102SPL by pairing it with a PDX 600.

yes less power does damages the woofer and what i learnt after all these years of playing with audio stuff is that no matter what woofer u have it all comes down to the amplifier...if u have a 3000rs amplifier ur 10000rs woofer will sound like a 3000rs ....and if u have a 20000rs amplifier and u have a 3000rs woofer it will sound like a 20000rs woofer....the juice coming from the amplifier matters the most..............same is the case with speakers.....

@959 thanx yaar and i personally prefer x11d and ur rite it has 20% more power for the pioneer recommended power rating... but all these power ratings are @14.4v and in real life max u get 13.5v-12.5v so i wud rate the power at 1000w-900w @2ohms max at 12.5v-13.5v where as the book says 1200w @2ohms @14.4v

am using a sound magus amplifier its olso a mono pretty bad a$$
olso very cheap for such a power rating! please chk out ma post ma box is tuned to 36hz soundz gr8 if yu ask!

@ i never said 3001 hits highs. For highs u need to put it in 1cuft box lol.

But regardless of all, its produces very crystal clear lows and sounds sq ish wid them, and plays gud upto a 42-43hz, then it takes a banana up its *** lol.

@splfanatic: Sir 3001 is by no means a SQ sub. A sq sub is that sub which hits the bass notes accurately and precisely. which 3001 does not. Even Pioneer , the maker of this sub, rates it as a spl sub.

lol... i know some people try to confuse you....... anways a SQ sub is that which integrates with you setup and is more musical, hit bass notes precisely and accurately. Low note are inaudible i-e 30ish hz dont care about em if u are after SQ

The bass form 3001 over comes the mid bass, mid range and highs. a bass heavy setup is never a SQ setup.

For SQ vs SPL sub (usually) look at the surround of the sub. if it is over hung and large, that sub is more towards SPL. If it is small the sub is more towards SQ.

Reason:
The over hung surrounds can never control the sub motion accurately and quickly, like in the case of 3001, thats why it does not sound accurate in highs and thats the bass spectrum one should be worried about since thats the part where midbass gives in and sub takes over.

3001 is no way a spl sub.

the spl lineup was totally different of pioneer with the name spl given to it. but this 3001 is just a champian pro series sub which would come between sq and sql. but no way spl.

usual sq/sql subs will have a longer overhung or greater xmax so tht they can pump out the lows. they will be optimized for sealed enclosures...
eg type R / jl12w7 / 3001 / type x

i have tried jl12w7 / 3001. they both are useless in very large enclosures and are not to loud with the high notes. but the lower end is gr8 on those subs.

in my opinion 3001 is one of the worst sub designed ever. not one video on utube shows its worth to do somthing.

what is ur range? i have some branded amps which are 1000rms@2ohms but are well above rs.20,000 mark... if u ready to invest tht much then i can be of some help to you
