Dear Corolla experts, I want your opinion in identifying the root cause and possible fault in my XLI.
Most of the time car runs smooth but on random occasions when i park and then try to start again. it just produces a single tick sound. No ignition / self / hesitation sound. The odo display lights are showing, headlights working.
What i do then is to ask someone to help in pushing the car and I start it in 2nd gear. Once car is started, it starts showing check-engine light with following code:
- P0335, Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor -circuit malfunction
It happened to me multiple times and on push start, check-light comes and vanishes by-self after some time.
Later on random occasion it happens again.
In recent incident when i push started the car, it gave me 2 codes.
- P0335, Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor -circuit malfunction
- P0340, Camshaft position (CMP) sensor A, bank 1 circuit malfunction.
The main difficulty is when i push-start car and directly visit mechanic, car start working perfect again and there is no chance to regenerate that problem on mechanic shop.
Mechanics review:
Shop #1 feedback) He observed codes, saw crankshaft related wirings and they looks good and not repaired. Sensor fittings are tight. Still he suggest to replace Crankshaft sensor with another and see if it fixes the issue.
Shop #2 feedback) He totally disregarded the OBD codes and told me that Ignition Self needs repairing. But said as we
don't see the issue now we can't say it'll definitely fix the issue.
Shop #3 feedback) He verified battery was ok showing approx. 13 and on load 10-11. He told me to service ignition self with a hope that it should fix the case.
Random Behavior:
On 3 incidents of a car-stop: i switched car-autolock on-off multiple times and tried ignition and suddenly the car started without any external push.
On 1 incident, i started car in morning for kids-school, car showed above no-start behavior. Later i tried again after 2-3 hours to go to mechanic and it hesitated for 2 sec then started.
